Thanks Jeff. I have been checking BD's Facebook page every 5 minutes and emailed them earlier this week. They were expecting the 350 combo (which is what I have pre-ordered) "this week". It is now Friday evening and... still nothing. I know this can happen - the consignment might well be stuck in customs. I also know there is nothing that you or Mark can do about it. I was just looking for a bit of sympathy with all the mix-and-match permutations, or super-stacks, under discussion. One cab will do for me at the moment.

I know, it still blows my mind coming from the old-school amp & cabs to these modern ones. But because I am much older I absolutely love the direction we have gone in the bass reinforcement world to small, light, and powerful.

A-freakin'-men.

Smaller, lighter and better tone. AND more choices! Genzler isn't the only company. There's sooooo many good products out there right now for us bass players.

As commented on previously by @tombowlus, when you do use 2 of the BA cabs stacked, you get more coupling than you would normally from conventional cabinet coupling. The coupling of the arrays takes the advantage of 2 cabs much further. You're not just adding to the performance but multiplying the performance when stacking these cabs. This is where players have been able to move away from larger 410/115 stacks to a couple BA cabs stacked and have much better penetration and coverage on stage.

Still lovin' the little 10-2. Such a sweet cab!! It's been living at my church gig. It's starting to break in and starting to get a little cush on that tush!

I've seriously thought about adding the 112T to my 212T, as I really do love the sound of my current setup. So part of me thinks that more might be better??

I really want to get a pair of BA12-3s also. So I don't know. Maybe I'll add the 112T now, and buy the Bass Arrays in a couple months.

I flip and flop back and forth wayyyy too much.

Back in the day around here, before the internet, we basically had Peavey at the local store. It was a big day when they got Ampeg.

BSO has a killer deal on a showroom display model MG112T. I think I'm gonna snag it and give the 3x12 thing a shot.

Edit: I'm also really intrigued by the idea of having a complete second "small rig". An MG350 with a pair of BA10-2s. Bebass's comments on that setup have really got my interest up.

We've got quite a few street dances booked for the summer, and more rolling in all the time. On some of these stages (usually flatbed trailers), we get spread out quite a bit. So I'm thinking that having a little extra push from another 12 might help with being heard better across the stage.

I used my old Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T with the Shuttle 110 Extension cab at a coffee house gig this weekend. Me, vibes and guitar. Small room. Sounded good. Plenty loud. Could have maybe gotten by with just the combo, but I like to have the extra cab and full 300 watts - even if I don't use all of it - for head room and as good a sound as I can get.

I used my G&L JB-2 with TI flats. Everyone liked it, said it sounded like a "real" bass. So I again wonder...do I update to a MG350 combo/extra cab and keep going with the "mini stack" or do I get the MG800 (all the power I'd ever need) and a BA12-3 and just bring one cab to gig like this. Put it on a chair to get it off the ground a bit and I'm good to go. The Shuttle cabs do have a bit of a "boxy mid" sound to them sometimes. I EQ it out a bit but Jeff has said the new cabs would take care of that.

Hate these decisions. Could also get a bass/IEM wireless for the cover band.

So here's what I think I would do... since you already have the shuttle 10T, I would keep that for the little things and practice at home, and get the MG800 and a BA12-3 for the other settings, knowing that it is still small enough and light enough that it could easily become the everywhere rig. If you can't afford to keep the shuttle and buy a new rig, I think I'd still go with the single BA12-3 and MG800 over the mini stack simply because of the added expandability and the evidently slightly bigger bottom end of the BA12-3 over even two of the BA10-2's.

I know that using two BA12-3's multiplies the positives, but just one is still pretty amazing to my ears and with the 800, gives me all I need in the settings in which I play. (FWIW, I do find that the single cab really does require getting off the floor. I use a stand.) So, would I like a second BA12-3? Yep. Do I need one? Nope.

Whatever I get would mostly sit in the corner of my basement as my practice amp. The 350 combo fits that bill better. When it comes to gig time, it's a toss up. The 350 combo/extension or the 800/BA12-3 would both handle almost any non-PA/IEM gig I would do. One thing is that if Im going to always bring 2 cabs with the 350, why not get the 800 and use one cab...except that it's nice to have the "built in stand" with the combo/stack.

I used this exact combination over the weekend for a gig:MG350 with BA10-2 on top of a BA12-3. The results were sublime. It was a festival situation, and even bass players from other groups commented on how good the setup sounded.

I will say that this would provide the most flexibility. Even the MG 350 head and the BA12-3 wojld be a very useful combination. Just sayin.

Gig update!

I've been using my MG212 / MG800 for everything lately - restaurants / medium sized banquet rooms - and this rig is killer. I have a pair of BA12-3's too, but I like only having to deal with one cab - I know - how lazy is this guy? I've had the pair of 12's out on gigs too and of course they are also killer, but for the last few months, the 212 has stayed on the dolly in the garage and I just haven't thought about using the 12's - you know how it goes after a gig, well how it goes for me is I roll my cart into the garage and there it sits until the next gig - grab it and go to the next gig. I know that for a larger room or an outdoor gig, all I need to do is grab one of the 12's to go with the 212 and that should be plenty. I think there was someone on this thread who tried that rig. I have a bunch of other cabs that I've accumulated over the years, but haven't touched them since getting the Genzler gear - good stuff Jeff!

I'm dithering about cabs right now as I can't audition much where I live. How would folks describe the differences between the Genzler Bass Array and Mesa Subway cabs? A local dealer has the MG/210BA/12BA in stock and I plan to try it in a couple days, but the MESA stuff is like unicorns around here...
