this video came across my feed today and I thought it was helpful to understand line arrays and perhaps what is going on with our BA cabs
Interestingly enough...I was (sort of) discussing this with my Wife just the other day. I never play my Genzler rig at home but I got it out and had it set up side by side by my old Eden rig. Both rigs were on carpet but we have an open floor plan with areas of large tile etc so some sound reflection is present. Played the Eden rig (that I've been using there regularly) and all sounded good and pleasant. When I moved to the Genzler rig and hit the first few notes my Wife was close by and we both noticed right away the 3Dish sound my BA410 produced compared to the Eden cabinet. It was almost like there were a couple of extra small speakers in the room that were amplifying my bass sound. I'm sure part of it was just the dispersion and a little bounce of sound off of some of the hard surfaces. My Wife asked why that was and I explained (in my very limited knowledge) about the array system and how that was most likely the cause. I know I've said it here before but I am always impressed how I can hear my bass through the cab in a wider area on stage due to the array. Now I just need to save up for a series 2 cab!
