I’ll wait until announcement before I pull the trigger on any genzler gear. Just realised that namm is end of this month also so I expect a decent amount of releases.

Still liking my Magellan 350 combo.

I became reacquainted with my best friend in high school last year, a drummer who I played a lot live with back in HS and college. I showed him the Genzler combo, and he was floored how small and lightweight it is. I told him, "this amp outperforms the Fender Bassman 50 with its 2x15 cab I used back then," which is true. He said, "I bet you wish you had it back then!" and I sure do!

Yep, by so far it's not even close. A 50w 1966 Bassman with a 2x12 cab was my first pro grade amp. But in 1966 a bass head and cabs as small as a Magellan head and those Bass Array cabs would've looked like they came from out space via some kinda time machine. LOL

My guess is a kinetix preamp pedal. But who knows!

Jeff and company always make January interesting. Some kind of Kinetix preamp/DI pedal would be interesting. I have been using a Stomp for a while, but I really don't need/use all that it does. I've been thinking about going back to a simple tuner/comp/pre/DI board again and was considering the Magellan pedal as I like my Magellan 350. But I played a Kinetics head at a local shop and man, it was sweet.

One of the reasons the Kinetix sounds like it does is the tubes running at 300 volts. It is not likely that a pedal will be made that has that feature.

Both the Magellan and Kinetix are so wonderful that I don't anticipate changes to them so......................????

We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?

Oh yeah, I'm aware that a Kinetix pedal is not going to be a thing. It would be cool. I think a Magellan pre/di would be just fine.

The Sushi Box pedals run the tubes at 300 volts, so it has been done.

Of course there are preamp pedals that have tubes running at 300V.

I will make a NAD post in a bit. I got my Magellan 800… but I’d totally spaced that it used speakon connectors. Is there a more existential ennui than sitting and staring at a new amp that you can’t connect up and play? It’s like a mirage to someone lost in the desert.

Cables should arrive today or tomorrow.
