I feel like the 112V-T is going to feel deeper in the bass response. Is that safe to say? I just returned another new (around 20lb) combo from a new reputable company. There were some grill vibrations happening and the 12 inch speaker couldn’t handle the low end without farting out at a level I felt it should have handled for a 12. All these companies are pushing the limits to get the lightest thing possible out there. We drive them to do that. Again, I go back to: Is 4 1/2 lbs worth it? What say you guys???

I've used the MG112T-V combo extensively and it's a potent rig, with or without an extension cabinet. The ULV could conceivably lose a bit of low end due to the reduced volume, but that's not certain (I'm sure Jeff will be able to clarify). And Genzler does offer a very nice cover for the MG112T-V combo, and I imagine they'll also offer one for the ULV. Only you can say if the weight savings is important to you. Good luck either way.

@pauliebass --- thanks for your recent purchase and for posing these questions. The weight vs cab size question is something only you can answer for yourself. In listening to players needs, we felt it was critical to bring a solid, pro level 112 cab under 20 lbs---with the warmth and durability of solid plywood construction. We feel we've achieved that.
In all design, there are considerations about the desired performance. I felt we had some low frequency depth to work with in considering what the MG-12T-V is in comparison to this new design. Will a larger cabinet offer more depth? Most times yes, but with the new MG-ULV-112T while working with a smaller cab, we changed the porting considerable and we feel we retained depth and fullness in the low end and added some great punch and mid definition. It sounds like the cab you purchased will hit the mark for your needs. We feel this new design will do the same for a lot of other players as well.

Guessing this puts the MG-12T-V into retirement. But smaller and lighter; you've gotta love that.

I still love my old MG-12T-V. Not sure it's worth a change to save a few pounds.

In 2011 I thought my 63 pound Genz Benz Uber 212 was a technological achievement! After playing a Peavey Black Widow 215 for a decade, it seemed light as a feather. I picked up a Genzler Nu Classic 212 and at only 44 pounds, it's an extremely easy load in. It's really a great time to play bass!

Jeff, will you continue to offer the original Magellan cabinets, or have the ULVs replaced those? I'm easy-guessing replaced, because I don't see the original Magellans on the GA website now.

I'm also easy-guessing that these will be higher priced than the originals. Anyone seen prices yet?
