Surely, I jest!
Yeah I’ll happily sell the fender for a tilt-back NC610 cause I like a matching head and cab setupJeff, my 9 year old son asks where you're at on the big rig 4x12. He also says that a 6x10 would be acceptable as well.![]()
Awesome comments. Glad the new head is working out for your gigs.Welp…..after the first Kinetix gig with the country band….all is beyond great. I told the guys I had a new amp but didn’t go in to details. About 4 songs into the first set the drummer looks at me and asks….”is it just me or does your bass sound have a fatter tone to it? It sounds amazing.” This is one of our monthly stops so we’re all used to the nuances of this particular room. During our first break I was able to explain the Kinetix to him and let him know what he was hearing. All the guys loved it and could hear (and feel) the difference. Saturday I was back with the R&B group. For the country stuff ‘fat’ is a great setting but with the other group ‘lean’ seems to work best. I’ll be out of town for the 4th so I’ll have a sub for a gig I will miss but the Kinetix is going to get a good workout all the way until mid September. Lots of hot/humid outdoor central TX gigs in the works!

I am getting the same reaction from my band mates. I have never had a piece of gear that got compliments from drummers or guitarists. Usuallly just other bassists. It makes me feel good about my Kinetix purchase!Welp…..after the first Kinetix gig with the country band….all is beyond great. I told the guys I had a new amp but didn’t go in to details. I would agree with your comments here. I would not catagorize this by music per se, but yes, a complex mix usually would warrant a setting more towards the LEAN side. And of course, stage or room acoustics would play heavily into this as well. We do feel its nice to have the options on the Kinetix and all settings still keep the tube feel and complexity. What are your thoughts about the "why" of this observation? My take is "lean" is better when the music entails a complex mix of instruments and voices, while "fat" helps fill out a less detailed mix. These factors are often at play when I've used other amps with a separate HPF -- higher HPF setting (towards 70, 80 or 90Hz) for complex mixes, lower setting (toward 50-35Hz) for simpler mix (not accounting for room requirements).
I would go kinetix over the Magellan for more aggressive style of music.I need some help I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a new amp and cabinets. For the last 35 years I have played an Eden WT 550 and Eden 410 XLT I play Warwick and Music Man active basses. I play primarily 90s alternative and Nu Metal. We play in medium to small clubs and I always have FOH to back me up. I love the way the Bass Array cabinets sound and I prefer 10 inch drivers. I’m thinking that a Magellan 800 and a BA2-210-3 would work for what I do. i’m just not sure as there is no place close to me for me to be able to try one.
I think for me part of it is the basses I choose. In the country band I use the Sadowsky and in the R&B group I have been using my Peavey TL-Five. The Sadowsky has a punch to it so running the 'fat' setting just adds some depth to that already punchy tone. The TL has more of the scooped sound to it so running the 'lean' setting seems to work best for that bass. With the R&B group I use a few different sounds from rolling up to the front p/u, slapping/popping and rolling a little to the back p/u for that punchy sound. I'm able to use the EQ on the bass to get the tones but the 'lean' setting on the amp is a great foundation for me to start with. What are your thoughts about the "why" of this observation? I am in Georgia and there is nowhere close to me to try them outI would go kinetix over the Magellan for more aggressive style of music.
Where are you located?
I believe Guitar Center Atlanta, GA carries Genzler Amplification bass amplifier heads.I am in Georgia and there is nowhere close to me to try them out
You wont find a better than this oneAnyone near Seattle or willing to ship and has a clean NuClassic 2-10 that they are wanting to part with??
How is that they come up with describing a speaker cab as a combo amp? GC can be pretty daffy at times. But that's a great deal of that cab.
