Has anyone ever tried the Genzler 800 through one Array 12-3 and a 210-3 together? I just purchased my first 210 and wondering if they will mix good. Will probably wind up getting another 210 to lol. Love this Genzler gear.

I have tried these together. The sound was fine. However, my preference is to keep two BA12-3's together. And two BA210-3 together as two different rigs. To me, the coupling just sounds the best when done this way. If I showed up at a gig where they had a BA210-3 on the bottom and a BA12-3 on top I wouldn't complain, though.

Thanks for the insight Jeff. If you were going to get a third for that stack would you get a second 12-3 or 210???

This is totally subjective depending upon the player. For me, I'd probably go with the BA210-3. I think I'd like the option of using 2 of those at times, then one of each, or then a single BA12-3 when needed AND when I want to be crazy...run them all.

Yep. Fortunately, my gigs are all DI/IEM so a new amp is not a priority right now. A pedal based pre/di...that might be more difficult to resist. Drive, contour, eq, all on my Nano/DI/IEM board...

It is tempting to just get a Magellan 800 and use it as my DI at church but...I have time today, maybe I'll do some sketching.

Does anyone use a head as a DI? where do you put it? What are the logistics?

It works great as a DI you can switch between eq'ed and non easily enough. Sounds super clean XLR out on rear perfect...

Jeff's DI's have always been great. My little Shuttle 3.0 has a great DI. Not much different than a Countryman or Radial. Just not sure about a practical physical set up.

Well I of course don't know what your set up is like, but if its just a standard board to a PA setup just need a channel to feed the XLR to for your bass. Simple??

From the manual if this helps...
DIRECT OUTPUT – An XLR balanced direct output is provided for connection to a PA system or directly into a recording studio console or A/D converter. The DIRECT OUTPUT signal may be switched between mic and line level, pre and post EQ, and the audio signal ground may be connected or lifted from pin 1 to eliminate hum due to ground loops. This output is fully protected against 48 volt phantom power and may be used for driving microphone lines of up to 300 feet without problems.

I meant the physical layout on stage. Do I put the head on the floor, a stool or table next to me? What about my tuner/mute pedal which I use all the time? Where do I put my Rolls for my IEMs? This is what I use right now.

It's SO easy, small, and sounds good.

I've used my MG800 as a DI only for an IEM gig.. I could have used it PRE EQ DI out but chose to run it POST EQ. I almost always run my DI out LINE Level.. The DI out feeds the snake which then splits to FOH and Monitor mixland...

If you are running your ROLLS as an IEM. You may need to set the MG800 at MIC level. since LINE may overdrive the MIC input on your ROLLS unit

Alright - my MG-800 came in last night and I fired it up through the Eden 210 I'm using for about 10 minutes in between dinner time and the kids' bath times and bedtimes and yada yada yada. It already puts the SWR SM-400 I was using to shame, but that's no surprise. I've got a rehearsal this weekend so I'll get to push it a bit then. Played it for awhile with headphones and my Pawn Shop Mustang bass. It was nice to be able to hear all the notes up and down the neck of the Mustang - with previous combos the bottom 2 strings are huge and the top 2 strings are non-existent.

Anyway - I'm very happy and will report back when I've played it at rehearsal.

Hey all, I run a Genz Benz Contour 500 at gigs, but there's a chance we will play a bigger outdoor gig. Will a new Genzler can work to get my watts up to 500 or need I search out a used GB cab?

I have a pair of 210 cabs that are the same dims as the old SWR 210 front ported cabs and they sound better than ever now with the MG800!

I used to own an SWR SM400 amp and I ran it through an SWR Goliath II Jr. It sounded really big but the midrange was pretty nasally and I couldn't dial it in right. I was really bothered by it but got a decent/fat enough tone to get by and at the time I was convinced that this SWR was the rig I had always wanted. I ended up selling all my gear about 18 months ago with the intention of moving overseas (still happening, just went from being a short term to a long term plan) and I have been borrowing a friend's SM400 and the Eden 210. This combo sounded SUPER nasally and I've only been able to tame the mids by using my Sadowsky outboard preamp, which works but swings the pendulum almost too far in the other direction - a bit too scooped. It's been driving me nuts, but I don't want to complain as it's not my gear and my buddy is being incredibly generous by letting me use it indefinitely.

Anyway, once I played the MG-800 through the Eden, the vast majority of that nasal quality was gone, confirming my suspicion that it was the SM400 that was the problem in that equation. I suspect that the SWR amp was voiced to compliment the SWR cab, and those Goliath II cabs were voiced to be HUGE sounding... it's the only thing I can think of. I don't typically think of SWR being nasally and honking sounding, but the proof was in the pudding.

Anyway, problem solved. And even without a cab of my own (don't really want to purchase a giant box to have to ship to Europe) the Genzler and my basses will be the constant in the equation. I'm looking forward to hearing the amp through the Genz Benz 212 I use at rehearsal....

Well I have 2 Genzler BA210-3 arrays heading my way and should be here tomorrow. I look forward to using them for a gig tomorrow night and seeing what they will do. I'm a firm believer in Jeff's products. They have definitely changed the game for me.
