Genzler Amplification ! New Genz Benz ?

Yeah, I used the Magellan 800 last weekend with great results! It's like a tighter, punchier Streamliner, but more versatile. It definitely out-performed my Shuttlemax 9.2 which has been my fave Genz head for years. This thing stays! It's a winner!

I've been meaning to ask how this amp works with upright. This post (plus your recent facebook comments) give me my answer! Thanks!

I have been using the overdrive channel ...still clean...with contour B and getting very satisfying results.

Used clean channel tonight with Contour A....sounded best with the SVT810

Out-performed the Shuttlemax 9.2?! Oh no. I didn't need to hear that at all. Ever since getting my Shuttlemax 9.2 I was GAS free in the amp department. Seriously. Now there's a chink in the armor.

I felt the same way only for me it was not so much that it outperformed the Max but it was a lot easier to find something I liked right away. For me the Max was too much..... What I like most about the 800 is the combination of versatility and simplicity.

Just chiming in here...

I have a Sadowsky P5, a Nordstrand J5 Classic, a Fender American Deluxe Active J4 and a Fender AVRI63 P-bass all going through a Berg CN212. It's so easy to dial in killer tone with minimal EQ changes-fantastic amp!!!

So it looks like you guys feel like this thing keeps up pretty well with a lot of other high end gear? Even though its not nearly as expensive as a B-amp or the DNA1350. Very interesting...

I haven't had the opportunity to play through the Berg or DNA amps, but the Magellan can certainly hang with the cream of the crop (IMHO).

I've been using a Eden WT550 which i like for its versatility but it was used and seems to be having a popping problem that I cant chase down

Not an exact comparison, but I did try out one of the DNA combo amps. The Magellan appears to have a little more heft under each note.

You've got me doubting my memory now. I'm not finding any info on it online. It was a few years ago at Bass Central in FL. I'm now wondering if it was a one-off prototype. I'm almost certain it was a DNA. However.... it's possible I'm off on this one... maybe... possibly....

Figured not, but it's all that came to mind when thinking, "a little older, combo, DNA-ish, not an Eden (though I guess the Nemesis technically were)..."

Well, I don't have a Magellan but I did have a WT550 and replaced it with a Genz Benz head.

If you like the Eden tone stack, I'd keep both.
