My Magellan 800 arrived today....Rehearsal cancelled and gig in a week.
So only light apartment use....Great feature set and feels sturdy.......versatile sounds.
Can't wait to hear it in live context...or feel the power and know what she is really about

Spent longer today and really growing to love this amp....very solid sounds....phat and great projection
Versatile....found good solid clean tones with warmth too
The distortion sounds cool...at my low volume....must buy a footswitch
Adds to my ears a tube type ampegish fur that always works well in the band mix for cutting through....although my go to will be the clean channel I expect
Contour A doses not really do anything for me, but B is my set and leave choice...adding to taste
Also can't wait to use her with my UL410,my usual, but think maybe the 310 will do fine at the gigs
nice to have a mute button....and tuner out
poweramp in if I choose to use a different preamp...sansamp bddi sounded good in it also

Your description of the DRIVE channel is very true. We worked very intently to make sure the overdrive sound, while getting pretty heavy, if you have a hot bass signal, would still keep its low end focus and stay "musical"----not mushy, buzzy of fuzzy.
We do this in an interactive way, as you increase the DRIVE GAIN you are also tailoring the response curve of this channel, gently tapering the lows and highs as you increase GAIN. This is what "holds it all together" so to speak as you drive the channel hard.
Certainly there are so many flavors of overdrive that players like, but it was our intent to provide at the very least a good "bassline" distortion (sorry for that pun) but accepting that for many players they might still turn to their favorite pedal for their particular distortion flavor. And we designed the MG-800 do be very pedal friendly in this regard.

Got to spend some more time with the Magellan 800 today.
Loving the tone
Very consistent from bass to bass....and found a set and forget setup that I could alter taste with my bass pickups and preamps to suit.
This thing is Phat...punchy and warm and very pleasing.....reproducing all the nuances of my basses tones.

I'm liking mine. Can go from Motown to AIC in the punch of the Channel button, will really help me in my multi-genre cover band.
And I just ordered my slip cover for my cab and bag for the Mag. very nice POS setup on the website. and that does not stand for piece of you know what.

Agreed, this is easily one of the most versatile bass amps I've ever played through.

Yes, he sure is. "Lovin' it" as he keeps telling me and he's not talking about a Big Mac.
He just did a show last night with this new test rig at the BLU Jazz in Akron, OH, hosted by trumpeter Dominick Farinacci. Several bass players on the stage so lots of good feedback --- in a good way.
That bass's frets are crooked!

I am really digging channel A engaged ...just a hair above flat...boosted bass and treble EQ
jamming through my Yorkville 112 cab...no tweeter....just at home...no drummer ...but I used this cab or two at one of my bands rehearsals....and know how it sounds in this setup compared to my Markbass LMII....which is clearer/ sharper sounding
MG800 has an inherent warmth about it that I am not used to...but do like...fatness?
Sounding awesome with jazz and Stingray 5vers
