Genzler Amplification ! New Genz Benz ?

Just pulled the trigger on a BA12-3. Gonna get another one next week. 
I played a gig last week with a supplied backline. The bass rig was an Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 and the cab was an SWR Goliath with 210's and a tweeter. I understand there were different generations of that cab but I have no idea which one this was. We had serious PA support so the amp was primarily for the stage and as a DI. The rig belonged to the headline act's bass player. They were coming up on stage almost immediately after us so I didn't feel as if I could mess with his settings on the amp too much. I did turn the drive down but didn't touch his tone settings (a slightly boosted treble and less boosted mids). I boosted the mids on my bass a touch and went from there.
Wow... it reminded me how much I love my rig. The sound with the other rig was woolly to the point that I really couldn't get it clean even after turning the drive down and lowering my gain going in. The bottom end was flabby and the mids seemed attenuated. The BA12-3 powered by my shuttle is a radically different sounding rig in a very, very, very positive way. This little cab just kills it. I just love that tight bottom and the articulate mids... add a head that doesn't color the sound too much and it makes for a simply astounding rig. I have another gig in two weeks with a supplied backline... I may just take my gear anyway.

Cause that can really piss off the soundman and/or the owner of the venue.
in this case it won't... it will only mean that I have to schlep my gear when I wouldn't have otherwise... it will be worth it.
In other circumstances, it just might piss off the sound person... and you don't want to do that when they're in control of what the audience hears

I went to Europe once and some of the backline equipment was terrible.
the one in my post wasn't terrible by any stretch, but I've gotten accustomed to something so much better

Yes the DI is in phase with the speak output. But when using the DI in a standard stage setting that signal path passes through a lot of potential phase inversions. Really not an issue in most scenarios.

It's OK to hit the input clip occasionally but you do run the chance of clipping the EQ network.
I would prefer to engage the Input Pad if you were not using it.

Last night I took my recently acquired MG800 for about the 4th rehearsal. I'm just loving this thing so much and couldn't be happier.
Running it into the Baer ML112 is wonderful. Waiting for a gig to run a pair with it.
Set with the drive channel gain about 50%, contour B about 30%, slight mid cut about 1000k, great for fingerstyle. Then quick flip to contour A, for slap.

You know what I love about the MG8 most? When you turn ANY knob, you hear audible feedback. I can't say that about most micros.
Can you clarify a little what you mean by 'audible feedback'?
Each knob readily (and congruenty) responds to microscopic movements of the dial.
I did some searching and found no results - just curious if anyone has A/B'd a 12-3 against the Greenboy F112? The thing is that the 12-3 seems to accomplish the same thing in a smaller package - an LF type 12 and mid drivers, so who needs a tweeter, right? Friedland raved about his F112 and claimed it's as loud and sounds better than his GK 410. I have a F112 and have yet to test it out with my newly acquired Magellan 800 - and I have other cabs that I need to test it out with, but the fact is that the 12-3s are amazing - just played through a pair last week. I'm sure others will chime in and tell me to sell all my other cabs and get the pair of 12-3s - and the price tag on them will probably force me to sell everything else anyway - dang! I have too many cabs anyway - pairs of 112s, 115s, 210s and a 212 - you know the deal - the endless search for the right rig. I guess I could really simplify my rig with the 12-3s: small gigs = one cab / bigger gig = two cabs / big ass gig = 3 cabs. I know - just do it! Thoughts?

Not really a direct comparison, but...
I've been using the MG-800 as my primary amp for a little while now. I got to try it out with the 12-3 (single and stack). I use a fEarful 12/6/1 at home. Now... I never A/B's them directly against one another and I've got a fEarful, not a Fearless. However, that said, if I wasn't into building my own cab and I wanted to buy one, the 12-3 would get some serious consideration. The MG112 would also be a contender.
