i finally got a chance to play through some of this stuff and it's pretty dang impressive!
i don't know whether it's the head, the cabs or both, but playing the magellan head through both the 2x12 and the little 1x12 array cab, i was really struck by just how sturdy the low end was; not boomy or overwhelming, but just smack-you-in-the-head there.
of all things, it reminded me of the "limitless power" feel of the older unthrottled boogie carbine M9 heads into their bigger cabs. i wasn't used to hearing that kind of brutal, uncompressed power coming from a little micro head (even though it has a nice tube-y preamp section).
I've noticed this, with my MG800/MG212T setup----The feel of the amp takes me back to my days of playing an Aguilar DB750 (another amp that always felt like it had limitless power, IME). Not that the MG800 sounds like a DB750, it just feels like it's got a ton of power on tap, similar to the big Aggie. And yes, the low end.....I love the deep, clear, yet totally controlled, low end that this setup puts out on stage.
