Genzler Amplification ! New Genz Benz ?

So, dare I ask, has anyone done a side by side comparison with the Mesa D-800, which I have read has a deeper bass voice and polite treble. Wish they had included a tuner out and effect send/return, that's a big Genzler selling point for me as I have a clean/dirty with vol pedal two amp setup.

I would run it through a Bergie HT112/EX112 ministack (also have a Bergie HT210S)

Yes, and I've commented on it several times in various threads. The Magellan is slightly less "voiced" than the D-800, and has a bit more going on in the upper mids, and yes, a little less down low. Both are pretty much identical in terms of volume (as would be expected). They each have unique options for tone-sculpting, but the Magellan has a few more features in its wheelhouse.

Not exactly the same, but I use my MG-800 direct into my home recording setup all the time. It works beautifully. The Drive channel, Contour controls and EQ are all faithfully present out the DI as they are out a speaker.

A couple of points here. The LF Filter increases all frequencies slightly above the 75 Hz and all frequencies below. The filter does not slide lower as you increase the bass.

In combination with though the Contour A curve does increases the LF below the 75 Hz as you increase it from the FLAT position. Overall the A Contour increases LF and HF along with a slight mid dip as you increase the Contour control. The 10 o'clock to noon position seems to be the sweet spot for a lot of players using the Magellan 800.
It really is a "season to taste" control.

I'm on the same boat, I found and Australian distributor that ships to NZ, but it is quite expensive. I probably will get the Magellan based on reviews here and pair it with my Audiokinesis TC112
