I'm just guessing, but I'd bet if it was between black ice and snow, you'd rather have the snow...at least most truckers I've known prefer what they can see to what they don't know is there until the tractor and trailer start moving in disconcerting directions relative to each other.
 
We were watching the history of the U.S. tonight and it showed ham radio enthusiasts. I grew up in a very small town named Wrangell, and a lot of the dads had ham radios. One of their hobbies was exchanging custom postcards with contact information. For some reason, Rube Goldberg was one of the heroes in the ham radio postcard world. Something similar like this with a call sign:
