While part of me considers a gingerbread latte too gauche to consider, the part of me that doesn't enjoyed herself Wednesday.

It seems to be Thursday here in this part of the Upper Midwest US. Anyone else having this problem? If so, what are you doing about it?

Taking birds out to do a show and tell at a retirement home this afternoon. Maybe this little girl.View attachment 3628032

She looks like she enjoys playing on the rigging. Lots of interesting things.

Does she wear a leopard skin coat outside like what’s in the background?

“...I give you the mausoleum of all hope and desire...I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you might forget it now and then for a moment and not spend all of your breath trying to conquer it. Because no battle is ever won he said. They are not even fought. The field only reveals to man his own folly and despair, and victory is an illusion of philosophers and fools.”
William Faulkner, The Sound and the Fury
yeah! grump up, my friends,
fnord!
P.S.
Marmaduke caught an opossum tonight and when I told him "No. Drop it." He did. And trotted over proud to his Master, and got a "Good Boy"

So....suddenly this is philosophers corner?.....

Oh, not so sudden. I'm still contemplating the above post from over 2 years ago!
.

Just had to add this.

Pierogies are like Polish won tons. The sauerkraut ones sit with me a good while.

yeah I know there is an SCTV thread next door

Being of Polish persuasion (all 4 of my grandparents came over from Poland on a boat. Not together, of course), I got to say this video hit home in more ways than I would like to admit.

We do have a dish called Gołąkbi, also known as Polish cabbage rolls. Gołąkbi (pronounced go-WUMB-key) along with some Pierogies (ref. GonePlaid's previous post), Kielbasa, and some Kapusta (sauerkraut) is a part of the Polish cuisine that I grew up with.

There was a Polish restaurant in NE Orlando(Polonia)that we discovered kinda by accident. Incredible food, made to order. Super potato pancakes, the cabbage rolls, fabulous desserts, house made coarse applesauce. Naturally they went outta bizness.:banghead:

For you fish-haters, here's an interesting blurb about alternatives to beef: DISCLAIMER: I LOVE STEAK, BEEF ROASTS, AND PORK!

Why are chicken, fish and beans better for you than red meat?

In general, red meats (beef, pork and lamb) have more saturated (bad) fat than chicken, fish and vegetable proteins such as beans. Saturated and trans fats can raise your blood cholesterol and make heart disease worse.

The unsaturated fats in fish, such as salmon, actually have health benefits. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish and some plant sources, as part of a heart-healthy diet, can help reduce the risk of heart failure, coronary heart disease, cardiac arrest and the most common type of stroke (ischemic).

There are many types of beans – pinto, kidney, garbanzo, soybeans, etc. – and they’re all good for you. Put lentils, split peas and black-eyed peas on the list, too! You can prepare them without saturated and trans fats for a healthy meal.
