And you know this how?
Bigfootses are too, well, *big* to get into a crib and lie on a baby's face to steal its breath.

In the late 1950s my younger brother was born in the little town where my mother was born and raised, and I think the plan was for my mother, new baby and the rest of the family to stay with my grandmother for a week or so. I don't know from where, but a crib was procured, for use then and in the immediate future when our family would go for short visits. Perhaps it was borrowed from a family friend, or maybe it had been stored somewhere in my grandmother's house where it had been undetected by my endless snooping. The crib came with what looked like an old-fashioned wooden screen door, which attached to the top of the crib, covering it when in use but was detached otherwise. I was told its purpose was to keep cats away from the baby. I guess the crib must have also been screened on the slatted sides, but I don't remember that. I do remember my six-year-old self being suspicious of the explanation I was given, though.

My parents had a cat but gave it to an aunt when my brother was born. I never actually heard of a cat smothering a baby. They know how to look after young ones.

Yeah, we always had cats and/or dogs in the house when I was growing up. I haven't had either one for almost 20 years now, and don't have a good reason why not. I love dogs and like cats.

And now for something completely different.

Our parrot shelter got word yesterday of a $7500 grant from the Doris Day Animal Fund. That'll cover about half of our vet bills for the coming year, and this is our fourth year as a recipient.

Please don't eat the daisies. :)

I see that the Doris Day Foundation is also helping by featuring your parrot center on their web site.

...Bigfoots can't do that.
Proper English/American time: when they are spoken of en masse, should they be called Bigfoots, or would it be Bigfeet?

All houses have a crib in the attic........................

I like your qualifiers there: "I love dogs and like cats."

In my case, I do have a good reason to not have any - allergies. <sneezing, with drippy nose and watery eyes>

Since nobody's ever talked to a Bigfoot (Harry doesn't count) we don't know what they like to be called in groups. So I decided arbitrarily to use the Bob Ross English Method for "foots."

See, I wasn't allowed in the attic, that they knew about. My forays were necessarily brief.

Cats think they're all that and a bag of chips. Dogs are lovely people. Mrs. Tango's nose doesn't get along with cats, either.
