We ain't if there's no therapy and/or vaccine. For moi, with additional fun underlying conditions, that's the deciding factor for resumption of regular activities.

A section of road that I walk on some mornings has been covid closed at each end except for local traffic. They want to allow for separation space so folks can walk on the road.

Mostly, the drivers that ignore the barricades and zoom through, making pedistrians scatter, are driving expensive cars. They are too important to take the time to detour. I know that they don’t live on that street.

In the beginning, there were hot lumps. The rise of the copy editor predated the rise of the Linotype machine, but

Printing machinery being as massive as it is resides on the ground floor. You know, when we had stuff like that. One flight up, and directly above, is the newsroom. The rim, as it's called, is a horseshoe shaped desk where the editors work. At the center / top of the rim is where the slot editor works. His desk has a slot in it. Marked up copy is dropped down the slot to the compositors. To the slot editor's left and right on the horseshoe are the rim editors. They do whatever work the slot editor assigns. It's a job.

It's a lifetime ago since I've seen a functioning rim. It's a lifetime ago since I've seen hot type, too.

Today I am angry, sad and many other feelings I can't put names to.

In my city a mother and her three daughters 1, 4 and 6 were out in their SUV. A 20 year old in his Infinity travelling at a high rate of speed went through a red light and Tboned the SUV then knocked down a lamp post which fell onto the SUV crushing it. all four were killed. The youth is in critical condition but is thought to survive. Two helicopter ambulances were called out initially but then cancelled as the victims were declared deceased.

Around my area all the roads are 50KPH, 30MPH, limits. It's amazing how few folk heed the limit! Some have been clocked at 300KPH over the limit. When they are caught they lose their cars and license.

It's not like these @$$wipes suddenly lose the ability to drive, only the privilege. 1 chance(maybe), then off to the slammer.

I like the Ferrari from an engineering perspective. Most of the people that drive them are jerks.

I've long thought that some men drive them and cars of similar ilk as compensation for <ahem> lack of, well, a certain *quality* they're sensitive about.

Mostly, the gold chain crowd with mid '70s or later models.

Then there are the ones who fly their vehicle into town on a plane for festivals. Some are paid (free meal and booze) to park outside popular venues and show off. Attend parties. When on the highway, they drive like maniacs. On city street they make a lot of noise. What do they care about tickets, the cops give them a pass.

Nice that all their events are cancelled this year.
