Hey, all--- what is the deal with the air in Texas.......? I just looked at a live feed of SpaceX waiting for a launch. The sky looks filled with what looks like smog.........?

Maybe they have a smoke filter to obscure sensitive information. Been done before.

When we got a TV, we could only pick up one channel with the rabbit ears. It stayed like that for a while. Watching TV required someone near the set to adjust the horizontal flicking and adjust the antenna.

My favourite show in the morning was the indian test screen. I used to use similar test patterns to set up monitors when I worked in vision.

I think I caught in 1958 when I was ten and just after my parents bought a TV (B&W)!

1958 TV...(B&W)!

I taped a colorized version of "Casablanca". Never watched it. I mean, why?
I watch that movie every time it comes on...the acting was brilliant. I also love The Maltese Falcon, The African Queen and The Caine Mutiny and always try to catch them whenever they're playing. I feel like it's fate telling me to take a break!

Possibly the movie I would drop everything to watch again is The Searchers.

They may not be airing that film any more because John Wayne is in it. That's how silly things are now. He's on the black list since his 1971 playboy interview went viral. People are always looking for a way to target others.

John Wayne IRL is not maybe the best role model, it is true. In The Searchers, he plays, well, a white supremacist.

I wonder-a little-how many of us in our age group have said things 30-60 years ago that we have changed our minds about. Whether in 'jokes' or serious discussions, I'm sure I could be chastised(drawn, quartered, hung, shot, electrocuted, made to walk the plank, etc.)for things I said in my past. I'm equally certain that, since I can't change any of my past actions, I no longer care. I ain't runnin' fer office or nuthin'.

Reflecting the times-both of the era portrayed and the era it was filmed.
I'd watch for Natalie Wood.

The Searchers is a disturbing movie on many levels, for me. It's also John Ford, and some of the finest cinematography of record IMO.

Do the birds ever repeat any of your Marine-isms?;)
The only bad language I ever heard while I was in the Corps was from a medical corpsman. Marines have always had very delicate sensibilities. Ok, truth is, I'm way more careful about talking to the birds than I ever was with humans.

:eyebrow::speechless:As an ex-Navy man, that sounds a bit like a 'sea story' to me.
