Your new bass that's coming certainly has an interesting headstock. Refreshingly new.

Yeah, I didn't mind the silks on the saddles but overlapping the nut on E and G didn't cut it.

Good for removing the silk from where you don't want it. Home Depot.

Forget to lay down blue painter's tape on the body around the bridge before the unstringing? Simple trick when dealing with floating bridges.

I use the lowest tack painter's tape. Delicate old nitro finishes can pull off even with regular painter's tape if you leave it in place too long.

That is one of the songs where I played bass and keys (the organ part) at the same time. The organ part was easy. Hold the keys down until the chord changes. The tough part was singing the high harmonies as well. Of course, given my vocal abilities, singing anything is difficult.

That length of time is fine.

Some luthiers use a product called TransferRite Ultra, there are different tacks.

I haven't had problems with the lowest tack painter's tape available from Home Depot. Scotch, Delicate Surface from 3M, the purple one.
