WB is hoping that the WW84 movie can fly. Then they'll be able to buy all the gear they want.
I tend to not watch many new movies. Right now I'm watching The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. A meek Kansas typesetter who wants to be a reporter spends the night in a haunted house. The premise is a bit farfetched. How many typesetters get to be reporters.

In the time of lead type, children who track scholastically to learn a skill like typesetting seldom share classroom space with children who track to English studies.

Could be a cover band for any style of music through the mid-70s, even later depending on where you look. Even in the 80s, Western publishers were still shipping letterpresses to third world countries.

I guess you are right about that. So what is the clinical definition of Heavy Metal? From Google:

I can remember the first time that I heard the term and it happened to be in regard to Zep in 1970-1971. Just sayin'.

That I am able to stay my hand from carefully explaining the difference between a font and a typeface is proof of my ongoing recovery. Double chocolate coffee oatmeal stout eases the involuntary convulsions that occur when I see insanely executed kerned pairs.

An influence on heavy metal is not the same as playing heavy metal. But it also depends on what type of heavy metal are we talking about.

Funny to see the Ventures holding Fenders. I always thought that they were the Mosrite guys.
I have read before that Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin are considered the "trinity" of the early heavy metal bands. I also read that Blue Cheer was considered the first and that Blue Oyster Cult has been considered the first "American" heavy metal band.
I still stand by LZ as a blues-influenced, hard rock band. Check out the songs from the first two LZ albums. The majority are blues based. I love LZ except for the fact that they blatantly copied the old blues/folk artists, added a harder edge to the song, and then claimed it as their own. John Paul Jones is up at the top of my list of Rock bass players just under Geddy Lee.
Black Sabbath, to me, checks all of the boxes on what heavy metal is and thereby, IMHO, is the first heavy metal band.

The hand drawn instrument heads on the poster are Mosrite. Up to 1963 they played Fenders. The Mosrite deal, which ran from 1963 - 1968 must have paid well. The way I heard it, Mosrite made the instruments, the Ventures organization sold them. The Ventures also financed building a new Mosrite factory. At the peak, they were producing 600 instruments a month. When the deal ended, Mosrite signed with The Thomas Organ Company for sales and distribution. Bad move, this was the same Thomas Organ that ruined VOX.
Their earliest pics had them holding 7enders until they got together with Semie Mosley to build the Mosrites they became known for playing.(short version)
I recently learned that " When the Levee Breaks" by LZ was a cover of a song by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie from 1929. Could they have been the early version of heavy metal?
Glendale Train ... one of the first songs some buddies and I did to help relieve the Covid pains. It was a blast.
