I have a genetic clotting condition. It is going to kill me before any other ailment you can name. Maybe tomorrow, maybe many years from now, just not today. So, I keep in regular contact with my doctor to make sure the rat poison levels are proper. I don't abuse myself, but I don't necessarily over-constrain myself, either. The avatar says it all: kick back, loosen the tie, push back the hat, and enjoy a cold one.
That sucks. A nice lady who just left my department has something simular. Shes a walking stroke victome. He veins in her brain are growing like spider veins like crazy. Reveiled by a headache that didnt go away then an MRI. Doc said she could have a major stroke tomorrow or live forever. So she went to grad shool.

Yeah! What's up with them letting people rebuild in obvious fire zones! That drives up everybody's insurance!
This is what we hear every time a hurricane hits (it's been a long while, now-- this was just a land based storm): Why let them rebuild in a flood zone? I don't want to subsidize idiots living in a swamp! Touche' on much of it, but why rebuild a city in Tornado Valley? Why reopen Pacific Coast Highway, since every time it rains there are mud slides?
Hell in a hand basket, but don't cry for me! I live on high ground and my fall tomatoes seedlings are progressing nicely. I
missed a week of work because I couldn't get off the gravel road/canal (don't have a boat).
No, I will not be calling FEMA (those guy SUCK),
f!

We hosted a family reunion last year. Our place is 3 acres with an aerobic septic system.
One of the guest dads is known for burying his face in his iPhone everywhere he goes and on this day sat in a patio chair oblivious to the world, until I walked up to him and quietly
mentioned, close to his left ear, that his 7 year old daughter was running thru the sprinklers. He looked up and shrugged his shoulders and went back to whatever he was
obsessed with on his phone. Then I added, "that's the septic sprinklers".
Now, between you and me, those septic sprinklers disperse 99% purified water. But he didn't know that. His reaction was priceless and maybe it taught him to keep an eye on his kid and put his damned phone away every once in a while.
Now get off my lawn!
