My dad(who knew the word "bano")being a semi-pro smart@$$, asked for "el palacio de urinado". My mother smacked him."Bano" is pretty close to universally understood, IME.
We took care of all that (most of it, anyway) over the years. And, the house is far more "charming" now than when we moved in.They'll say they want the 'charm' of an older house then find out the wiring is shot, the rooms are tiny, the hvac-if it has any-needs replacing adding a good $100K+ to the cost. Not so charming at that point.
+1. Throughout all the renovation work we have done, only one wall was removed (in the attic). Now, all theI'm not a fan of open concept. My tastes are strictly old school.
We're all GOFs here, we understand.I've always been amused by the term "rest room". Sometimes workin' hard in there. (TMI?)
Severance Hall is aIn old theatres and fancy establishments, sometimes they had a room with chairs and sofas just outside the toilets. It was a rest room.

Whenever I write or type something I make a concerted effort to remember the rules of grammar and punctuation that I learned in High School so as not to create run on sentences that would tend to make what I try to say nearly unreadable and mostly indecipherable thus pretty much eliminating any possibility of understanding that which I was attempting to convey to the prospective reader whoever she or he might be and thus making said reader less interested in any further communication I might put forth in an effort to connect with other people of similar interests or philosophies that might otherwise be in agreement with any points that I make in my writings as rambling tends to annoy the person reading such sentences eventually becomes sufficiently irritated at the length of such sentences as to ignore all future opinions that were put forth by me no matter how relevant or significant their content might turn out to be.![]()

Thailand has no such cleaning lady, nor restroom, nor tp...I can remember one Baño in particular...in a Beautifully landscaped park.
The stench stopped me well before I got to the door.
That being said...I love Thailand, and its people...that if it weren't for the titanic language barrier, and our roots (and granddaughters) being set so deep here in GA, I would love to live in a small village up the Kwah River and be the old white guy who taught English and played the bass 'round the fire each night.
...a daydream I've had since we spent a month there in 2005.
Bangkok...the loudest, friendliest, dirtiest, busiest, happiest, most exciting big city I've Ever visited...(said the boy from the Bronx).
And # is a pound

Well, at least your spacebar worked.Whenever I write or type something I make a concerted effort to remember the rules of grammar and punctuation that I learned in High School so as not to create run on sentences that would tend to make what I try to say nearly unreadable and mostly indecipherable thus pretty much eliminating any possibility of understanding that which I was attempting to convey to the prospective reader whoever she or he might be and thus making said reader less interested in any further communication I might put forth in an effort to connect with other people of similar interests or philosophies that might otherwise be in agreement with any points that I make in my writings as rambling tends to annoy the person reading such sentences eventually becomes sufficiently irritated at the length of such sentences as to ignore all future opinions that were put forth by me no matter how relevant or significant their content might turn out to be.
Edit: That was more difficult than I thought it would be when I first came up with the idea.
