The new grill cloth and badges for the Dynaco speakers arrived today! Have to make a frame but no big deal. It's a really close match to the original in color and pattern.

Oh, yeah, a small desk fan on low took care of the power amp heat problem. Listened for about 2 hrs yesterday and the glass was barely warm. Need to fix up a small fan with some sort of filter to keep the dust out, maybe an air box to sit on the backside of the amp. Oh, geez, another project...

OK, maybe hold off on that last Red Stripe.

Listened to the Eagles "One Of These Nights" album and Little Feat "Let It Roll" album.

Saw the Eagles for the first time in '75 right after the "One Of These Nights" album came out. Tickets were $4. Saw Little Feat not long after "Let It Roll" came out. Took a couple of friends who had never heard of Little Feat. Blasphemy!

Anytime I hear "Dynaco" I think of the great tube amp I had back in the '60's. Oh, well, the class D's of today are cheaper, lighter and, with some tweaking, sound great.

The early Sunn amps were the Dynaco Mark III power amp and PAM1 preamp circuits. I knew about the Mark III but didn't know about the preamp stages.

I didn't either but, having gone round and round on this preamp question, all I know is that I had a Dynaco tube amp connected to a 2-15 D140F cab without a preamp, unless it was included in the amp. There was no other devices attached and it sounded GREAT.

And back to the topic of bass solos. This one is pretty good! Lead in starts about 5:11. The whole tune is pretty much a showcase for the guys.

I love the Dynaco stuff I have. Even more after moving it a better listening place. I had though about selling it and getting another project amp but not now! 35 blistering watts per channel! More than enough.

I've always 'slung' my basses fairly low-used to be a lot lower.(if ya took the bass away, my right hand would be in front of...uh,...my...uh...zipper. That's it.)

I hear ya. Unfortunately that's where we are. My previous employer outsourced several hundred of us to an Israeli company who then a year later outsourced those jobs to a company in India then cut our jobs. That was my point of retirement. Timing worked out for me. That was my point of retirement. No regrets, no looking back!

Question for my fellow GOF's. Seeing as how I'll be turning 65 this summer, I've been told I have to sign up for some kind of medicare. I'm still working but hope to retire maybe later this year. My company has great health care benefits that will continue (although somewhat costlier) after I retire. Everyone from my current health care provider (BC/BS Excellus) to whatever can be found on facebook is trying to sign me up for seminars and "helpful" classes (for a fee or the opportunity to join them) to decide what I need to sign up for. Why is this such a complicated mess? Any advice or helpful input would be appreciated.

I didn't reply earlier because this is my first year in Medicare, so I didn't think I'd have much to add. However -- check with your county government. Mine has a program of assistance where they give seminars, etc. There is a YouTube video of the PowerPoint portion of it, with a very dry narration by a guy who really knows his stuff. It is at .
I hated the process of choosing a prescription drug plan and a Medigap policy. But I tend to get plugged in when offered too many choices, as both those do.
