Sometimes I see people glancing my knee scar as I walk by. It doesn’t bother me that they are so superficial.

How I see myself inside and how I see myself on camera being two different realities, I can afford a bit of superficiality presenting myself. There is absolutely no reason for me to make a show of it when I record my MTftBP video. But I discovered it is fun. So while I didn't go full-on hippie chick for the most recent attempt on a groove on minor thirds, I did do the whole bit with blue eye shadow ...

Same around here. The DFW metroplex was about 5.5M when we moved here. It's about 7.5M now. Allen was a bedroom community of about 22K. That's why we picked Allen. Two restaurants and a McDonalds were the only food places. It's about 102K now. Strip mall after strip mall, quick shops on about every corner of major intersections. Roads that were two lane are now 6 lanes. Houses built right next to a busy road or with a strip mall in the back yard and they are selling.
The amount of construction particularly the past 5 yrs is unbelievable particularly commercial. The '08-'09 economic troubles didn't slow stuff down very much. I think there is a law that requires any empty space to be scraped off and something built. Lots of subdivision developments in rural areas.

The other side of all that is there is pretty much anything we would ever want or need within 30 mins of us. Any medical need or doc within 30 mins. That's one thing that keeps us from packing up and moving today!
I prefer real documentaries like "This Is Spinal Tap" and "A Mighty Wind".

Back in the '90s, Clearwater Beach enacted a law aimed at combating the problem. They'd tolerated mini-kinis on women since forever, but when gay men in their micro-thongs started frequenting the area during Spring Break, the geezers on the board decided enough was enough.
So, how did they word the offense? Too much anal cleft.
How'd you like to have been a cop in C.B. trying to enforce that one? How ya gonna measure? Who's gonna measure?
Of course, the law had unintended consequences, like highlighting the presence of too much anal cleft in C.B. IIRC, the law didn't last long.

The previous lack of any effective zoning control in Houston has caused them all kinds of problems. I don't know if they're doing any better today. I lived in Texas for 10 years. In the '50s. I attended a spook school at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo in 1970. Plenty of changes and development. Then I spent 10 years in the oil business in the '80s, and noticed huge changes again.
One thing I noticed when job hunting after Motorola cratered in the early '00s was that a job posting that said the job was located in the southwest meant Texas. If the job was in Arizona, it said so specifically. I found that little detail interesting.
I can forgive people for being the way that they are. They can't help but gawk at a trainwrek as they pass by. On the other hand, people that have played sports, been injured in battle, or had medical issues often smile and nod. They fully understand and have scars from their procedures. Some even want to relate their stories, a badge of honor.

That, or they have a predilection for cleaving things in excess of generally acceptable bounds.
