That’s a serious looking machine. It must take a lot of alpaca tummy brushing to gather enough wool to satisfy that machine. Nice skein winder.

The ring spinner is a four-head from Belfast Mini Mills in Canada. She also has a carder, pin drafter, and felting table...big equipment. The skein winder, on the other hand, came out of my wood shop. Very pre-industrial. Her studio is oldish-style too...straw bales covered with lime plaster. Winter heat comes from a corn burner and a passive solar build. The alpaca growers around here keep Abi pretty busy.

@alaskaleftybass told us about having a left handed Graph Tech (same as Tusq) synthetic self-lubricating nut installed (SR1200L). Not sure if he ever went ahead with the procedure.

I don't recall him confirming that, either. But, recently heard that he is now better at hitting the higher notes while singing.

According to Google, that's Eddie Cochran on the right, and Alis Leslie in the middle.

This brings back fond memories of a knitted Cowichan jacket with a moose on it that I had. Popular in the 50’s. It was made with multi-strand matted but untwisted wool (called prairie wool? ). Very warm. Found some big rolls years ago but it sits waiting for the right time.

Interesting that Google has the woman as Alis Leslie (whoever she is); she's supposed to be Janis Martin. I learned about her this morning in an article in an old issue of Vintage Guitar on "cowboy" guitars. That's her Gretsch Rancher she's holding.
