Sadly, I believe you are correct.

Kinda related, people are starting to see that posting political thoughts on social media can lead to the same result regardless of where on the spectrum one’s thoughts might lean.

I’m glad that social media did not exist when I was young and just starting my career. I was far more outspoken in those days.
I know a few people who've gotten their @$$3$ in a sling on FB, IG, Twitter, and whatever else there is-that I don't do. Since I don't hafta deal with HR in any capacity, I'm more outspoken/less filtered now. But I choose my battles.

We've played at this American Legion a few times. One of the songs I sing is CCR's "Bad Moon Rising". A couple that we've seen there before came up asked if we were gonna do "There's a Bathroom on the Right", knowing that's how we sing it, complete with pointing toward said facility. We did, they did, 1/2 the crowd did. Fun folks.

Hey given the choice between ̶s̶e̶a̶m̶s̶t̶r̶e̶s̶s̶ bassist and this — :dead:

Nope. No way. Not on a bucket list. Other "will not do" stuff: any form of mountain climbing, skydiving (no need to jump out of a perfectly good aircraft), BASE jumping, bungee jumping, climb a tower, wrestle an alligator, stick my head in a lion's mouth, eat brussel sprouts or liver (any internal organ). I'm sure I can come up with more but that'll do for now.

I know, thank god for television, eh?

I've been working in government on and off for nearly 30 years. I'm kind of conditioned to avoid controversial topics. It makes life easier. There's plenty more to talk about. As far as social media, the minute I see controversial topics dealing with events, I leave that post. I go to FB to read about my friends, Alaska, wild harvesting, musician humor. I can't stand seeing people with their false bravado on their millennial soapbox screaming injustices of whatever. Sheesh, enjoy life young people. We only go around once.

Well said!

Knowledge is good.

I used to have a strong fear of heights even in a building looking out a window but I was okay with hanging upside down in an open cockpit biplane. Go figure.

I rode the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish B.C. I had a strong urge to ask if I could inspect the cables before I got on. I was a little nervous going up especially when it stopped for an unknown reason. Yikes. We learned later it stopped to load supplies for the restaurant at the top. There were four of us in the car. When it stopped I said "In case something happens I want you to know I love you guys". One of them said "Let's see if he says that when we get to the top". lol.

I've been on the Royal Gorge Bridge a couple of times. It's a little unnerving. I will not ride that gondola or this insane contraption:
Theme Park Attractions in Colorado - Royal Rush Skycoaster

I will not get on the rides at the top of the Stratosphere in Lost Wages, NV.

One of the guys rode his bike across and back. And I quote "I've had about enough of this!"

Little room for me to defend my own time on the rocks but, hey, we used ropes and all. I know, right? Never wandered beyond my own ability, and no inclination to push the envelope. Here in the future where three out of eight major joints work because of medicine — yes, I believe that's what they call it — the doctor's orders are no running, no jumping.

Ah so that also explains why you avoid bad puns and jokes here. Or at least dress em up in attractive turns of phrase. Else the pitchfork mob here would get ya!:roflmao:

...or falling. :D

Possibly the oldest item I still own is a red sling used for rock climbing. It's purpose then and now is to hang stuff from.

For a thrilling read about mountaineering, Five Miles High is up there with the best. A shorter account of The Belay is [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Guy freeclimbing El Capitan got nothing on Pete Schoening. I know what it's like to hold belay for one. Holding the entire party at altitude is :jawdrop:

Doc didn't say no climbing!

Still have your chalk bag?

I have no real fear of heights, as long as there is something substantial to stand on. High bridges, tall buildings, roller coasters, etc. don't bother me. For a time, I worked building apartment complexes, and walked the top plate setting trusses. But, I have no desire to jump out of an airplane, climb a sheer cliff, just so I can come back down, or jump off of anything with an oversized rubber band attached to my body. So I guess, I have more of a fear of falling.
