Just like me. Sitting in my "orfice", having a chardonnay, enjoying the banter on TB with the odd urge to play bass...life is good. Feeling sorry for those working folks in the commute.

Ditto. After 12 yrs of being unemployed we still get a kick out of the traffic report, observing the pics of the jams, then thoughtfully saying "That's a shame".

Love Rodney!
His live shows were a blast. Saw him one time at the Park West in Lincoln Park, Chicago. Had I known before hand, I'd have dressed for the part. Anyone dressed like Rodney (suit, white shirt, red tie) got to sit in the "No Respect" section (some aluminum bleacher seats assembled stage right)! Very cool!

Unemployed or retired? I hope it's the later ;).

Retired and being a drain on society.

Just finished supper of Philly cheesesteak and fries - made in house.

Might have to blow something up on the home theater tonight. I keeping thinking about a new subwoofer but every time I blow something up or listen to music, it still kicks! Cerwin Vega SW12B passive ('92 vintage) with the power amp from a Pioneer VSX5000 receiver ('90 vintage). 100w per channel. I could spend several hundred dollars and I don't think it would be any better.

Hey, we paid our dues so, enjoy...drains on society are beyond our control...

They took their pound of flesh. I took it back.

Dj-uu make the quilt?

Drug store, perhaps?

The quilt is one of three my older sister made for me. The first was a fabric depiction of Brünhilde riding her horse through flames. The second was a quilt in a traditional American design, mostly in greens IIRC. This is the final, and surviving quilt. She is/was a fabric artist of note with trade show tours and free sewing machines. Is/was because I don't know what she's up to, and haven't known for (moment to count) ... 7 years.

Same sister who also gifted her Kay upright to a local music program. And sold her late 19th century German bass of no remarkable heritage. Killer sight reader. Played orchestra cold. Didn't want to play anymore.

Boston is / was a great music town. Fascinating article here that identifies Jane Curtin as a member of comedy troupe at a New Year's Eve concert called Boston Tea Party.

A Jeep without the 7-slot grill? Never seen one before.
I worked on tons of them in the 70's! Now the CJ's never broke with the tradition as best I recall. AMC even had a sort of forerunner suv'ish station wagon and a sedan called the Eagle with Jeep fingerprints on it that didn't follow grill tradition. The J series pickups also had that multiple vertical slot grill as opposed to the 7 slot version.

TSO's sister (one of a few of them) is an excellent quilter, and seamstress (is that still a thing?). We have one of her quilts hanging in the living room that depicts carp/koi (you decide!), very lovely thing it is.

Shame about the basses, I just know you would have taken to the upright instantly.

Some good Boston bands include, Boston, Aerosmith, Pixies, J. Geils Band, and of course The Cars.

Entertainers make a good song, better.
We did that song, among a few other Cars songs, in the last classic pop rock band I was in years ago. Your gal looks and sings a lot better than our (male) singer did.

Seamstress is the occupation working women gave to the judge in those long-ago times when sex workers were criminalized. When Ruth tells Rose in Titanic she will be forced to work as a seamstress if she doesn't marry Cal, that's what she's talking about.

Ummmm.....

This is a bit awkward.

Aside from being the bookkeeper and receptionist for my dad’s teaching and photography businesses, my mom was a seamstress.

Learned the craft at a big London department store as a teenager, went on to do custom alterations and wedding/bridesmaid gowns from home.

There was constant stream of young, marriageable women coming and going, which was entertaining for me as a teenager, but gentleman callers would have been sent packing!

We know about these gentlemen callers

The prostitutes of Invalid Link Removed called themselves “seamstresses”. Prostitution was illegal while being a seamstress was perfectly legal so there were over 2,700 seamstresses living in Seattle in the late 1800's. Painted ladies!

It's amazing what skilled artists can do with covers in terms of doing justice to the original, but adding something new. I really enjoyed this little YouTube piece by James Taylor on that very subject: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zbXEc4L4_E

Always good to make a song your own. He has a nice recording space.

JT has a special tuning that he uses to make his instruments sound better. Peterson tuners come with it.
