Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Have seen the movie. Excellent but the hobble scene about made me come out of my chair. When the movie is on, I will not watch that scene again. The Family Guy parody was good, too. lol. We both love Kathy Bates! She was great in Misery and Dolores Claiborne.

We've both read a lot of Stephen King but I haven't read that one. The Stand is both of our favorites - book and movie.
Oh, the book is much more horrifying than the movie. Much.

I see the posted road speed limit as a suggestion. Recipes are the same way, I don't cook by following strict rules, it's simply a guide. Taste determines what's in the recipe. Bread is different although there is some latitude based on the feel of the dough. The flour and humidity play a roll.
The first time I make a new recipe, I make it exactly as written. I want to know how it tastes and looks and the texture, all of that, before I start messing with it. And I mess with every one of them.

Almost always more garlic and more heat.

My preferred level of heat is enough to cause a sweat to break out on my forehead, but not enough to turn my pits into Niagara Falls. 4 out of 5 on the Thai restaurant heat scale.

Anything that hot must have something in it that needs to be obliterated. No thanks, I'm fine without it...

There's different kinds of heat. Some enhance flavors. Others destroy them. Just like with wine. Great big bold reds might taste good with the first sip, but you'll never properly taste your food after that.

If the heat gets in the way of the taste, then no.

This episode of the original Modern Marvels is pretty funny and puts the heat into perspective.

Same can be said about cayenne and those other "great" peppers. Even after a gallon of water, you still can't taste your food. My rule is, "if it's painful to eat, it's for someone else".

Bell pepper (no heat), green chile, jalapeno, and poblano are the only peppers we use and not that often and little ground cayenne for some dishes like orange chicken. We don't see the point of anything like a habanero or bhut jolokia. Those are sadistic.

I don't prepare spicy meals for infants and children, the elderly, and the infirm ;) the way I would prepare them for myself :smug: For just a good easy and delicious hit (that I fully expect to fulfill soon enough) a hot dog with sport peppers in Chicago will do nicely.

Too hot means ... if that's what's on the menu there will be no eye makeup.

Update on Pop today - He will be able get the radiation treatments about 30 miles from his house. He was really upbeat about everything today. Finally, some positive news! Waiting to hear from the cancer center on appointment dates for the consult and the setup session. :D
That's great news. I hope he kicks its @$$.

I don't make a big deal about it. I just don't eat it. End of story.
