Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

The BMW touring bike had a high-level LED brake light on top of the trunk in addition to the one that was mounted lower down. I installed a module that made it flash randomly when I applied the brakes, and STILL almost got rear-ended once while stopped at a traffic light with nowhere to go to escape.

I have an RTB (run-turn-brake) module, too. Flashes the brake and turn signals three times with brakes and keeps the turn signals on as running lights. I also have an LED light on the sissy bar tied to the brake and tail light. I put those on in the first couple of months I had the scooter.

When I'm at a stop light I leave at least two bike lengths for an out and an eye on the review mirror. I'll flash the brake a couple of times when I see a car coming up behind me. I never put it in neutral until a car behind me has stopped. I seldom see any riders giving themselves an out or watching the mirrors. Saw a guy the other day stopped right on the stop stripe and heads down with a cell phone. D'oh!

How does a four-year-old know how to turn on the cockadoody oven?? :wideyed:
Um, use the knob on the front?

EDIT: Full disclosure. I should also mention that I helped my mom with the ironing once. The steam iron was out of water, so I filled it and ironed some clothes. Only one problem. I filled it with leftover pineapple juice I found in the fridge. The iron needed replacing. :meh:

Cute apron!

The only downside of all of that early cooking was that I turned out to be a better cook than any of my 3 ex's. Guess who made dinner? Yup. It was either eat my own cooking...or go out.
Lessee here: 50% of 50% of 50%...sounds like an episode of The Dukes of Hazard! Ah-coo-coo-coo!
Sorry, couldn't resist that setup. Getting my coat now....

Seems like there is little excuse for not being a good (great) cook.
Aside of the need for good equipment, following instructions accurately is the requirement.
The world is filled abound with recipes by the best chefs.

It took me awhile to sort out the timing if there are multiple pots going. Nothing like having orange chicken about ready to serve then realize you forgot to start the rice. D'oh.

I was careful about measuring spices at first, then figured out I didn't need to do that. Got pretty good at getting it right without measuring especially cayenne pepper. :jawdrop:

How did this come about?

My friend from Achill and I are his invited guests for lunch. It's museum level inside. He walked me the breadth of his property. There's a water wheel and I'm as clearly present to that moment now as I was "then". Whatever that is.

Absolutely there are people I know whose cooking ... whose idea of cooking ... whose idea of a good meal ....
:: smh ::
and they manage their way through life all the same.

The French idiom for a foodie experience "to die for" translates as "nail your [backside] to the floor". I find sometimes the most simply prepared and presented meals to be the most memorable.

An icy shot of limoncello to finish never hurts.

Wasn't it he who said "pee to the lee"?

As "life in general advice" goes, sound.

The hand-held contraption that functions as a head on a racing sloop has a pump mechanism  You use it, you clean it, the captain says. It's that or display fanny for all sky and sea to observe :dead: good sea legs are an asset. Um pardon the pun. It was unintentional. Truly.

In French, that's called "mise en place" or everything in its place. For those who don't speak French, I always suggest the following minor change: mess in place. That gets you the basic idea.

Yeah, my measurement would be zero...
