Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I got hit by a car today. I was crossing the street on a green light when little girl driving daddy's big SUV decided to start driving forward. She was looking out the opposite side window. The car heavily impacted my fist on the hood of the car. It seemed to get her attention right smartly.

So, are you ok? I would have taken the license number and reported it to police. She could do worse the next time.
I had a fender bender when I was very young. They called the cops. Being an older Detroit car the damage was minimal. I learned my lesson though. Then I learned how to be a school bus driver. I went through vigorous training and saw some pretty bloody videos about car accidents. Makes you automatically more conscious about how you drive through life.

It is a cherry tart we brought and shared at the table at Maureen O'Hara's former home.

Yes, and now that you mentioned her, Godiva does makes some great sweets.

I have a thingy called a Brass Monkey. It's used to push elevator buttons or for opening doors. Anytime you don't want to touch something public. I realized that turned around, with one finger through the big hole and two fingers tucked into the U opening, it makes a great brass knuckle (which are illegal in some places).

Heublein Brass Monkey is the only one I know of. We consumed mass quantities of it in the mid-70s. I consumed so much of it once that I pretty much got home (still at parents) and fell all the way to my bed. After about 10 mins I deposited the Brass Monkey on the floor. Woke up the folks and sister. They turned the light on (that hurt). My sister started yelling "Just let him lay in it!" I don't remember anything after that. Of course I could remind my sister of some of her later adventures with alcohol.

Mike D says you've been wrong about the brass monkey

It could have been worse.

Geez.

I've had a few close ones on the scooter because of idiot drivers not paying attention. I remember all of them. The one at the top of the list was in CO. Long stretch of straight, flat road. I see a pickup coming my way and he's drifting over the line. He was halfway into my lane then swerved back not 20 ft in front of me. I was riding on the line on the edge of the road, no shoulder. I had no place to go except the ditch. I had slowed down a lot but the trip to the ditch would have hurt. I took me awhile to get over that.

I've since put LED running lights on the crash bar along with the passing lamps and headlamp with brighter bulbs. It seems I've had fewer incidents of people pulling out or turning left in front of me since.

Like riding, you have to cross a street like you're invisible.

The BMW touring bike had a high-level LED brake light on top of the trunk in addition to the one that was mounted lower down. I installed a module that made it flash randomly when I applied the brakes, and STILL almost got rear-ended once while stopped at a traffic light with nowhere to go to escape.

It is delicious. A tad too much sugar...but still!

I don't use recipes...it all from watching my mother make them when I was growing up.
I used to make mini pies in left over pot pie tins with the scraps from my mother's pie making. When I was 4, I got a hankering for some cherry pie, so I made some. And blew up the oven! I forgot to open the can the cherries were in. Dang thing exploded. My bad. Sorry, mom. :rollno:

How does a four-year-old know how to turn on the cockadoody oven?? :wideyed:
