EDIT: I had one rather embarrassing situation on a steady gig ~1979 when I left out one undergarment(we were wearing light colored pants)and the stage lighting was more intense than I realized, which was brought to my attention by one of the waitresses.:oops::bag:

Years (decades?) ago when I had a lot less assets (and ass) I went cross country (NJ-AZ) quite a few times by Greyhound to visit my Mom. Was okay, was fun, but couldn't manage it too well now. But still, it might be nice to know if they're driving across the Big Pond now? -Wouldn't put it past them.... :meh:

Are you saying that the polyester shirt I used to wear with horizontal bands fading from brown to blue to white with a bicycle wrapping around the side was not cool? :laugh:

Hmmm.... I haven't seen that shirt in a while. Wonder where it is?

The heater coil in my 74 3/4 ton decided to go on my way to a rodeo. My gear bag, leather boots, spur straps, riding glove, etc. were ruined by hot antifreeze. Had to do a road side bypass, on the hoses, barely made the go round, wearing a still wet glove. (This story may not be disco related)

LOL! I've flown twice with a bass in a gig bag. Once, the attendant let be put it in a double overhead where they kept the safety demo stuff. The other time they let me put it in the first class coat closet. I would NOT check an instrument unless it was in a road case inside of another road case.

My Ray has seen a lot of domestic and international air miles (as have I, but not all at the same time) in both the original HSC, and a Reunion Blues Continental Voyager. And one might reasonably expect by now I know my way around airports and airlines.

Airlines are "not the same" as they were, owing to a couple million variable well beyond my control. The Reunion Blues still gets the top score from me. If the instrument is going to be destroyed, then they'll have to have done a lot of questionably accidental work to do that with a Reunion Blues.

High on my GAS list is the Gruvgear [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. One of those means a single checked bag for my bass and all my personal effects for Chicago in November-ish. :D

I avoid flying for a variety of reasons...but mostly because I like to be in control of when I travel and who I travel with. COVID has taught me that. Being retired, I have lots of time and do not have to sacrifice my health and bank account to get there as soon as possible.

Rather than fly to a North American destination with the cost of hotels and car rentals, my motor home takes me where I want to go and I have my own living space and transportation. Oh, and I have no interest in travelling abroad. There are too many places I have not seen on this continent!

I would love that option. A motor home would be killer. What is the fuel economy on one like yours?
