Ah....just saves me the trouble.
I've only bought maybe three pieces of new, out-of-the-box bass gear in my time...my first bass which was a NEW Hofner Beatle. I had that carved up in the first two weeks by sticking a big Humbucker in it. I was young and ignorant and it did not do what I hoped. An SVT, and a Guild/Hartke 4X10 cabinet which I have to this day. Definitely some battle scars on that.
The rest was was out of the used room at Gus Zoppi Music on 8 mile Rd. (yes, the famous 8 Mile)

I modify all my instruments. It’s the law as far as I know. I just want the mods to be my own, pride of ownership and all.

LOL looking at the list. Geez. There are a few keepers in there. Sad when the theme to Star Wars gets on a top anything list. Great theme for the movie but it should stop there but then again we NEED top XX lists for everything!

I used to have a pair of blue suede Earth Shoes. Really, no foolin'. They went well with the bell bottom blue jeans. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

I gotta agree. At least there were recognizable melodies. What spoiled it for us disco bands was that DJs at the venues we played would play the same songs that we did on the breaks, and the owners never wanted the beat to stop in between songs. Had to keep the bass drum beating. And God forbid that you played anything remotely reminiscent of a rock beat. We complied and we worked. Dedicated rock bands had fewer places to play.

We used to drive over to Dyersburg, TN to Grand Central Station to dance and listen to bands pretty much every weekend in the late '70s. Bands were pretty good. When there was no band a DJ played mostly disco. Yes, we did that. The manager knew us by name. Always had a good time!

The place burned down sometime after we stopped going there. I think the mortgage papers and insurance paper rubbed against each other creating friction and fire. There were other shenanigans going on, too.

African-Americans were not even allowed in the door in some of the places. They did not want to start a trend. There are a few reasons that I won't get into.
Disco was a white clientele thing according to them. Forget the fact that many of the songs we were playing were by Black artists.

EDIT: I had one rather embarrassing situation on a steady gig ~1979 when I left out one undergarment(we were wearing light colored pants)and the stage lighting was more intense than I realized, which was brought to my attention by one of the waitresses.

Yeah I can imagine a leak in that area would not beautify Nubuck!
The heater coil in my 74 3/4 ton decided to go on my way to a rodeo. My gear bag, leather boots, spur straps, riding glove, etc. were ruined by hot antifreeze. Had to do a road side bypass, on the hoses, barely made the go round, wearing a still wet glove. (This story may not be disco related)

Don’t let a US airline ever try to make you check your instrument in the baggage hold. They have to take small sized instruments in the cabin, so not a standup bass.

I have not had the opportunity to bring my bass with me while traveling by air, but if I did, I would claim it is my "Emotional Support" bass and needs to ride up with me. That scam works for pets, why not instruments?

Transporting your pet cat or dog with you is fine, but the B.S. about comfort pets (i.e., pigs, ponies, etc.) is a joke. Scared of flying? Take a Greyhound bus!
