A lot of people like to gamble (Las Vegas, anyone?).

I’ve been let down by less than honest amp sellers. Often they play dumb like they haven’t go a clue. Then they install bad tubes, the wrong tubes, forget to mention damage. I kind of expect this sort of thing.

One music store claimed that new Rickenbacker instruments don’t come with a case. Then wanted to sell me the one that it was shipped with.

I don’t get the attraction. Local boy Billy Joel really has a following in the north-east. He regularly sells out Madison Square Garden. Tourists like to go see him, like going to Broadway. Everywhere else, not so much. But all he needs is the NYC area to make what he needs.

In a moment of weakness, special-ordered a blue nubuck strap that's "sort-of" an upgrade for the cat bass. This buckskin-hue nubuck strap is one high-quality piece of leather. Same seller, wider strap at 2.75 inches. Doubt it will arrive in time for Friday's video.

Straps are an instant cheer-me-up.

I still haven't come up with a descriptive term for paying ridiculous amounts of money for anything old that says "Fender" on the headstock. I thoroughly enjoy my killer FSO's with modern design refinements and QC.

GC lost my business when I was shopping for a 7ender AV '62 Jazz Bass in the winter of 2003 for a number of BS they did with the two they had in stock. I ended up ordering it from my local Pop-n-Daughter shop (not sure what happened to mom).

The last time I recall seeing Marilyn and her stacked knob Jazz Bass was in the mid '70s. IIRC, it was a good one; she gigged with it often.

Rode for almost 25 years with no serious accidents except for one nasty exhaust pipe burn on my leg when a GL1100 Gold Wing went over on top of me. I rode everything from 400cc Hawks to full dressers and often took long interstate trips... My last MC was a damn good Honda 750cc Nighthawk and then I sold it and switched to scooters, and after 4 or 5 of these I finished up with a 200cc Vespa GT. -Great little scoot; did 75 MPH easily while getting 75 MPG..!
Haven't ridden now for several years; I wisely gave it up when my hearing diminished and my heart got 'bad' and I had to go on blood thinners. Accepting legitimate risk is one thing; stupid pride is another and I figured I'd better get out while I was still in one fairly good piece...
I missed it for several years, but now when I see a guy riding in leathers and a helmet on a scorching hot day I definitely appreciate the comfort of my car...

The absolute best single mic recording I've ever heard was the famous Benny Goodman Live at Carnegie Hall concert in 1938. There's a wonderful story of how the recording actually made it to market. Way back when (pre-CD), I bought the double cassette version. Just look at the musicians he put together for that show! Super good! If I didn't include the CD version in the 25% of CDs I kept for shipment to France, I'll have to rebuy it. It's that good! The Wiki page leaves out some interesting details that are included with the liner notes.

Oh man, I cut my teeth on this album... It was one of the earlier LPs produced and also the first I ever bought... I still have the original blue labeled double album set hidden away somewhere, and also now in CD format. Best "Sing-Sing-Sing" ever recorded... Krupa's tom pounding is exhilarating, but the part where Jess Stacy, following Goodman's beautiful solo, comes on with that brilliantly spare, mean and lovely piano solo is something akin to a musical miracle... Probably the absolute best big band jazz concert ever recorded! (-IMO anyway...)

No motorcycles for me is the conclusion I reach as a teen after two near-fatal bicycle accidents. One of them cost me a full week of life, of which I hold no memory. Still hold the scars. That's what scars are, that permanence is what makes them scars. I know, right?

What's with all the Thanos kind of stories, anyway? Doesn't anyone write a story where everything turns out right, and everyone is happy?
