Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Surfing and scuba is top of my list for retirement. I'll be on the Pacific side, East cost there, and right on open ocean. One of the best diving areas with many species of !@#$ found only there and one of the most bio-diverse places on earth is a $100/10 or 15 hour Admirals Suite boat ride away. I don't expect to reach 80 years old, but I do expect to die with a $#|t eating grin :D Oh yah, probably get my pilots license and see if I can fly a WW2 fighter.

Feeling grumpy. I complained about an auction gone bad on TB and a bunch of young whippersnappers tore me a new one. My mistake but the buyer wouldn't work with me. I read on the news one of our former leaders said there's a new culture of meanness in the country and you know I agree. Some people here (especially us GOF's) are kind and caring, and even when grumpy are understanding. But some of the younger players are just rude and thoughtless. Honestly the way some of them talk I would probably pop them in the lip if we were in the same room. Oh well. That's my gripe for the day. Good morning by the way GOF's......

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who's been feeling this way for a while, and I couldn't agree with you more. The only thing I'd add is that around here it's not the just the young who have gotten that way. I see plenty of people who are old enough to know better, acting like their needs or wants supersede anyone else's. There's a prevailing attitude of "I've got mine, so screw you". It actually surprises me now when someone is polite on the road and pauses to let someone else out. I've gotten honked at and flipped off for letting someone pull out in front of me when the guy behind me couldn't wait an extra second. I've always thought we're supposed to be kind to each other just because that's what you do, but that makes me feel like an anachronism now.

Geez, I turn 65 and I get all somber and complaining. Sorry. Things have been rough. Looks like it's a rum and ginger ale night. Cheers y'all...

This is odd...I’m 61, have a guaranteed income as long as I have a pulse via VA disability, supplemented some by music income and soon to be partial SS (age 62)...blah blah..

But the thought of not picking in a public setting in both financially and professionally satisfying situations scares the living hell out of me. Moreso after reading the last few posts. Dang, y’all.
Bah, if you run out of money, just get some Viagra and do a bit of the old biz, Pickles.

Bender has been my role model for years. This is my first tattoo, done a year ago and paid for by my daughter (we're mutual bad influences).

Someone asked me why I waited until I was 64 to get a tattoo. I told them that I wanted my tattoos to still look good when I'm dead.

The financial planners tell us we need to assume we'll live to 100 and invest/make choices accordingly. So if they're at least 90% right you're only about a 2/3 the way through your life. With all that experience backing you up, there's no reason to believe the years ahead won't be some your best.

IMO/IME those who simply keep going are able to keep going. I saw an interview with an 85 year old guy who surfed with the young folks every day. Someone asked him how an 85 year old guy could come out and surf the big waves with people 60 to 70 years his junior.

His answer was that when he was a teenager he decided he wanted to surf pretty much every day of his life. So in his mind if he was able to surf yesterday, he was only one day older today, so why would it be a problem. He never saw himself as XY years old, he always viewed himself as only one a day older than yesterday.

Thank you @Al Kraft . It's nice to have you guys as my GOF buddies! Even @BadExample :thumbsup:

BTW: Al, my brother is looking at Drakan. I guess he want's a bit more thrust. We must resume our PM's after I get through my horrid problems at work. Did you have your hands in ALQ-167's?
I get worried anytime @BadExample talks about thrust! o_O

 What's your take, Mr. @Passinwind Mr. @agedhorse and @Ken Morgan @ric426 ????
Or in plural would that be misseurs??? LOL

You don’t want my opinion...I’ve been pretty toasted since 6:30 central .

Have you been drinking with The Captain? Sorrry I had to go there.... :bag:

Lt. Col. Frank Slade: Clear them little bottles off. And when I get off the phone here, call up Hyman and tell him I want it wall to wall with John Daniels.

Charlie Simms: Don't you mean Jack Daniels?

Lt. Col. Frank Slade: He may be Jack to you son, but when you've known him as long as I have... that's a joke.

I must say that despite the unmanly name, Mt Gay rum is tasty and does the job nicely. I feel a bit better, but not so much that I'll regret it in the morning.
I've found that if you do drink better quality liquor, you aren't as sick the next day. I've heard people say the bargain brands are what's left on the bottom of the vats that name brands don't want to sell. And it's the junk in the liquor that makes you sick... so the more it's been filtered, the better the alcohol and better the head in the morning. Old wive's tale... eating eggs when drunk the night before staves off some of the dreaded hangover. I always had breakfast after a gig when I got toasty....
