At the end of the video the talks about the big finger. I find that the good vibrato can sometimes be achieved by using two fingers on the same note. It helps bend heavy gauge strings by adding some extra strength.

Joe walsh shows how to do an instrument setup in this video.it applies to bass as well. See what he’s doing at 18 minutes bending two string to nail what Page does. That’s why people use light gauge strings.

A song out of Muscle Shoals Alabama, recorded February 1, 1967. They had a formula to crank out similar sounding hits. But they sounded great.

It was a special year with the World’s Fair, Expo ‘67. There there was a world wide satellite transmission demonstrating technology, the Beatles performed All You Need is Love representing England.

Everything took at step forward and changed that year. It was the Summer of Love clashing with Vietnam. Drugs were pushed, turn on, tune in, drop out. Hippie sub-culture was promoted by people wanting to social engineer society.

Everything going mod. This was helped by color TV. The major networks were broadcasting their full schedule in color for the 66-67 season. Amp manufactures were pushing transistorized amps, Ampeg and others came out with a full line of transistorized amps. Tube amps were considered no longer fashionable.

I remember this song being a hit for the Supremes and the Temptations. Anything good was covered by Motown’s top acts to maximize sales.

Excellent soulful Sunday choice @SoulReflection , and an excellent story of our times in the late 60's, @beans-on-toast . I was a sophomore in Sitka High School but we felt the reverberations of that time all the way to Alaska. Kids started growing their hair out-- I bought a pair of Beatle boots, and we as youngsters started forming bands. I remember we all had small amps from either Sears or Monkey Wards! :laugh: We had to borrow a pair of bullhorn speakers for a PA from the school and started holding dances. What a magical time.

Does anyone remember the "Heathkit" amplifiers you could assemble at home? We had a pair of monster bass speakers and amplifier my friend bought -- and they had 2 x12's in the box and a horn tweeter. The woofers were by a company called "Utah" and the box weighed a TON! But man, for the time those two cabinets were LOUD! We used them for anything-- guitar, bass PA, and the head and cabs did all of that well!

The 60's certainly pitted "generational ideologies" against each other at extremes I don't think we ever saw prior or have seen since. Just the thought of having WWII "scarified all" parents facing off with kids who had everything and yet questioned everything from values/religion to war/patriotism to respect for government/the flag created a dynamic that left an indelible mark on America. While I navigated those times relatively intact, I can't say I was unaffected by the cultural change. What I do remember fondly from those days though is the incredible music and some of my favorite cars of all time. :)

I had friends with Heathkit radios (AM, AM/FM, HAM, etc.) and TV's. I think Heath even got into computers and IIRC they had a Thomas organ kit you could build. I haven't seen or heard much about them since they closed their doors in the 80's. I suspect many of our s senior engineers today may have cut their teeth on Heathkit projects.

I used to love going to the Heathkit store.

They had many of the kits on display. There were a number of instrument amps, the color TV kits were pretty complicated. I bought a shortwave radio kit as well as test equipment kits that they were big on. Their paint can dummy load, Cantenna, was pretty standard amoungst ham radio operators.

Their CR-1 crystal radio kit was more elaborate than the typical ones.

I seem to recall a Boy Scout project as part of earning a merit badge that involved building a Heathkit crystal radio. While terribly simple by even 60's technology standards, I felt a bit like Tesla or Edison when it actually worked. :)

All stuff that's supposed to help. I guess a trip to the doctor is in order. :(

We had an Amber Alert on Thursday evening. Eleven year old girl out with her dad for her birthday was late being returned to her mum. Sadly her body was found in her dad’s apartment just as the Alert went out. It did lead to a tip that enabled the father to be arrested. Such a sad, sad thing. The betrayal of the child's trust leaves me breathless! Such a pretty little thing too. :crying:

People were calling 911 to complain about their TV shows being interrupted! Sickening! :rollno:

No but if he is eventually put into General Population he will get what he deserves.

Something I don’t understand is the way certain cultures treat their females. They just don’t seem to get how precious they are. The future of our species lies with them. Equality? Nah! They should be on a pedestal!!
