Get the most out of your strings

CAIG Deoxit D5 works wonders. just take your strings off, spray a tad on a cloth then rub the string down well. string 'er up then you're good to go. it's an electronics cleaner that works amazingly well on scratchy pots ect... it cleans the hell outta your strings too. bubbles up like hydrogen peroxide while it eats rust and dirt. the reason I take the strings off is to not get it on the bass.

Wow, just tried this and it worked! Have a set of strings that have been on the bass for about 18 months and did this and there's actually some brightness now.

I've tried the "slap the sh!t out" techniques is works, but still I prefer to change a new strings.

It worked on my guitarist friend's 2 year old schecter bass with original strings still on it. Went from dead muffled tone to moderately zingy.
