with my brother's help and advice from him, here and other research, we agreed I'd do alright with this to start with. Gettin the red one not the blue but I liked both colors.. Keith (my bro) also wants me to go piece by piece, looking at everything.

Should have it, I'm hoping, next week. I'm all over ebay selling stuff to get it here. we've picked out a Fender amp after i bring the bass home also. Not sure but i think it's this one:

I didnt get the model # off the one they had there.

Good for you! That's a great bass for you to start out your quest of "bassing". Nice Fender Rumble amp. I have the same one, 300W, 1x15". Very nice. You'll have lots of fun on this voyage and TB is here for you all the way.

You're actually gonna play THAT piece of crap, THROUGH that OTHER piece of crap??!?!?!??:spit:

JK, :D I like that amp and I hear that's a great bass! (only fiddled with 'em a bit in a store) Have fun, and these guys here at TB were a big help when I was starting out, and still are.

How 'bout a pic of you playing?

Hmmm... red.... can you imagine how (even more) killer that bass would look like if it had a matching headstock.

Yay my imagination! \o/

Yeeeahhhh but I can't be too choosy right now, although..I thinks it's great we can tear these apart and have them refinish total custom.
the Hubs wants me to have one bass with a Crown schoolbus theme to it, chrome yellow with the crown's trident nose stripes. (we operate schoolbuses here in Socal, 7803 is my nickname is my bus's #)

Thats exactly what my bro said! Probably in a couple months or so, after learning something I'll fiddle with it.

Welcome to the lowlife! If I may be so bold as to offer a little advice... don't change anything on the bass unless you're sure it needs it. Changing parts may make the bass sound different, but not necessarily 'better'... or worse. In most cases there merely seem to be a lot of 'lateral' moves.

I'm still amazed at how many people buy a bass, start dumping money into it and are, surprisingly, lucky enough to have hit on the right combination of parts the first time around for their efforts to be considered an upgrade or vast improvement. I guess maybe that's just my good fortune because I've also only met people who went to Vegas and won. I've never met the losers. ;)

I digress. Anyway... nice bass. It's a lot like my older series Ibanez SR400 with the PJ pup config. The amp is also pretty sweet and should serve you well. I'm really impressed with Fender's SS amp offerings of the last several years. And my Bassman 250/210 keeps impressing me with it's tone every time I plug in.

If it sounds the way I like it, it'll stay put and get another one.
I could consider building something, a project, make that my schoolbus themed one haha..orr....
Or I could save up for that 4k wick i want and most likely'll never get cos it's soooo $$$$$

im dreaming

there's another ibanez i liked, SR530, higher up on the price scale but not completely out of my means later on.

so many options further down the line

and YES advice is always welcome!!!!!
