Getting a big tax refund? What you gonna buy?

I have been looking around for a new amp head with more wattage to feed to my Mesa Powerhouse 6x10 cabinet and also a rack case. However to be honest I will probably just put it all in the bank. At least until that magic deal comes around. :p

I intentionally get tiny returns. I can't afford to loan my money to the government without any interest. These days you can't even be 100% you're gonna get it back.

Yep, normally I owe the IRS. I'd rather keep the money myself all year and earn some interest. But somehow I'm getting a big refund. I guess because the wife switched to part-time to keep our baby.

Whatever. I won't complain.

Might get myself a Birdsong Cortobass! :bassist:

Pay off a majority of my credit card(s), and put some in savings for 2011/2012 tuition.

Boring, I know.

But I have resolved to sell quite a few bits of gear this year, so the money I get from that could potentially go toward a nice bass...or at least to huge amount of mod parts I want for my current arsenal (18 Hipshot ultralites, Knoll 4-band EQ, two sets of Circle K's, 4 individual string bridges, new P pickup, a 5-way rotary switch, two EMG TW's, buffer for my passive bass, etc).

But the media keeps telling me the economy is fine!

The media sayes a lot of stuff, and if it is on TV it must be true.:hiding::p

I wasn't planning of getting anything bass related due to Dave Ramsey Curse going around my house, but last night the wife said I was working hard and she wanted me to take $500 of our refund for myself. We will see if I have a moment of weakness when the money gets here. I have been wanting a second P-Bass lately.

You had to go and mention Dave. Now I hear him in my head: "Put the refund towards to your car loan!!!"

This is the first year I'm actually going to be able to have some fun with my tax return. Every other year it's just gone straight to credit card bills. HOWEVER, this year we got them all paid off! :hyper: So, I actually get to have a bit of fun with mine this year! I think gear wise the only thing I will be picking up is one of the Squier VM P-Basses. That amber with the black pickguard and maple fretboard makes me drool. I'm also going to treat myself to a couple of non-gear toys, and I think the rest we're going to put towards our wedding in Nov.

There is some debate around the household as to whether we need a new Warmoth Gecko 5er, and a bass that nice needs a new amp... say a GK 800RB and an Ampeg 610, or if we should pay off credit cards with it.

I'm in the first camp, my wife firmly in the latter. Then again, we could always pay down the credit cards then use the new available balance to buy the Gecko...

smart thing to do as long as you pay off the next bill within the grace period

I won't get a return. My parents had bonds in my name since I was a baby originally intended to pay for my college. They crashed not too long before I began so my parents never cashed them. Well, they've recouped a bit of their losses from the past 5 years. Unearned income my ass. It's my parents who banked on it. I'm losing out of a couple hundred dollars in returns that I desperately need. :hmm:
