Getting a particular tone.

I was checking out some Scott Devine videos on eBay. He has this intro tune with a cool Bass tone. It is a round kind of tone where the notes kind of go wah wah wah.

Apparently he uses a custom jazz bass with a Markbass head and custom
12" speakers...assuming that's what he recorded with.

I have a Marcus Miller jazz and a Markbass CMD JB. I spent some time turning knobs but couldn't seem to get it.

Do you think I am using the wrong gear to get that tone?

Can you get it? How did you do it?
