getting a tattoo

I think its good to be excited about a tattoo way before you get it. I think you should keep track of how your enthusiasm for it fades or if it grows and give yourself a lot of time so that you dont let yourself get stuck with something you dont want a week down the road.

It has been too long since I first wanted the brands til I will get them I want them now! But I can't get them now. I am no less excited about getting them, but I am more worried. If they aren't done rigt they will just look all scarred and you wont be able to see them. I will talk to my Grandmaster about the whole ceremony and actual getting them put on, but I will do alot of my own research as well.


Oh and if you are worried about a tattoo hurting, just remember this "Hey, it could be worse. You could be having white hot metal burning scars on your flesh."

Pain matters on two things:
1) the person
2) the locatoin

Studies have shown that women do have a higher pain tollerance on average (certain genes) but a big part of pan is conditioning. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the closer to the bone the more pain.

Not ALWAYS true. The only time when a tattoo really HURT was the 4 hour session I sat through to put color into this one on my calf - back of knee to ankle - with a 15 mag needle (15 needles bound together.. used to "paint" the color in.):

The only reason that REALLY HURT is because the artist had to go over areas that he'd already touched on.. basically the equivalent of wire-brushing a sunburn. Fun. 4 hours of outlining & shading, then 4 hours of painful coloring.

If you're going to get an asshat tattoo, it'd better be something you KNOW you want. They're extremely popular now, but that may not always be the case. Hopefully you don't care what's popular and it won't matter.

That tattoo is beautiful! My mate is having Castle Grayskull from He-Man done on his leg right now, looks brilliant!

Thanks. I love my artist's style & he's the only one I go to now. I've since added another piece about that size to the front of my leg (shin) of the Clan Gunn badge and will tie the two together when I get the time for a full sock.

Actually, depending on the method used for branding, it should hurt less than a tattoo. This might just be me and the people I've talked to with brands opinions, but in theory it should be hot enough to sear through the nerves basically instantly. Smells really bad though. And the aftercare can be less than fun.

And by the way, the brand sounds cool, post some pics when you get it if you dont mind.

I went to a local tattoo piercing place to get an estimate on a 3 hole industrial (not important) and there was a woman there who was asking about getting a cover up done on a guys name she had tattood a while back.

Thats a good reason not to get a name.

Haha...my brother's friend got a 2 hole industrial done and spent the night in searing pain. My brother got a ring in his upper ear and it didn't hurt a lick, though . Strange.

That treble clef and bass clef thing is a cool idea. It'd be interesting to see a classical pianist with a treble clef on his/hear right hand (back of it, between knuckles and wrist) and a bass clef in the same spot on the left hand.

I really love the ideas of bass clefs and the f-holes. Very cool.

YOu are one of the few people that seems to like teh idea! Most people are like: "Whatever." or "You're crazy" never "Wow, that is awesome!"

I will probably make a thread after I get them and they heal enough to be seen (currently have loose permission of my Grandmaster, nothing definate though )

Your theory sounds nice, but I am not putting all my faith into it
