getting a tattoo

Sorry if you disagree but I think the best way to be sure that it is something you will be happy with for the rest of your life is to come up with the idea on your own. If you already have a tattoo or two then I dont think its as big a deal as you arent "de-virginizing" your skin, but if it is a first I think you should be especially careful to ensure that it is something that is special to you.

I had drawn my tattoo up over a year before I got it and I knew exactly where it would go. I wont give you a hard time if you dont do the same. Im just trying to give my input and help you consider some extra things.

huh, well mine is on my wrist and it hurt, I'll admit it. Mainly the filliing it in, cause it took awhile.
*all black bass clef on right wrist, pretty spur of the moment, after makingthe appoointment with my sister and brother in law, I had enough time to go home, find a pic of a bass clef (copied and shrunk white TB shirt) and go and show a bassist/tattoo artist what a bass clef looked like :rollno: *

My ":rollno:" was not intended for you. It was for the thread starter who needed help picking out a tat. I agree with you 100%. Sorry about the miscommunication of emoticons. ;)

Yeah, its not weird that the sides bothered you more than the spine. About half the people I see cant handle the middle and the other half cant handle the sides. I've yet to see someone who was bothered by both. where it hurts is pretty individual and a really large part of it is psycological.

The ultimate form of conformity is uniform non-conformity.

The cosmetic docs/surgeons who are using lasers to get rid of tats can hardly fit all the people into their schedules who want to get rid of their ink. It's immensely expensive, too, because it requires repeated visits after you find out that "Bloody, bloody, Jesus" is turning off the girl you want to marry.

Try being something original if you don't want to be a conformist.

young lady please don't get a tattoo on your lower back.....it's overdone.....get one on your toe......that's different and sexy......but think carefully before you get it done......it's permanent.......i know someone will say laser surgery but that costs 10x the price of the tattoo

Here's my suggestion... If you don't already know what you want,,, don't get one. You gotta know what you want, else it means nothing. Honestly, I don't think you should get one period, but....

I agree with the sentiment that tats are the "Flock of Seagulls Haircuts" of this generation... Only problem is, you can change your hairstyle ALOT easier than you can get a tattoo removed.

My wife works as office manager in a plastic surgeons office, you have NO IDEA how bad the lazer removal process is gonna hurt... Whats worse is when young girls get tats on thier tummys, or belly button area... THEN, they get pregnant, & keep growing....

NOTHING is UGLIER than a stretch-marked stomach, that has the deformed remains of a tattoo...

Once at a bridal shop (getting a dress for my flower-girl daughter) my wife and I both noticed a very pretty girl trying on a dress that looked P-E-R-F-E-C-T on her. She was on a display stage getting the dress fit, as we walked around the stage to the cashier, her other half revealed a tattoo running down her arm that just killed her femininity (in my eyes) completely. It was a total TURN-OFF.


Yeah, go ahead get 'yer tatto. Let's reflect upon it when you're 35. I am telling you now:

Don't do it!

Bottom line, it's your body, do whatever you feel you need to do to make yourself more comfortable. You're almost 19, so you have the right to make your own decisions.

Yes, tattoos can be a little annoying to downright painful. It all depends on where you want to put one. I know a plethora of women that have tattoos on the small of their backs. And they all claim it was painful.

And yes, you may regret getting them when you get older. So these are decisions you will have to deal with once you are older. The sad thing about having tattoos is there are people who will judge you (many times for the wrong reasons) for having tattoos. As people have stated already, they are permanent. Tattoo artists can do cover-ups, but they usually (not always) look like crap.

With all that said, I have five of them and have my sixth one planned out that should take a good chunk of the winter to do. My next one is going from ankle to knee all the way around. It will be tons of bass clefs all overlapping one another going in all different directions. I plan on having them colored red with shading and highlights. I want people to really have to look to see what it really is.

You know not for nothing but, when I was 19 years old the whole world was wearing polyester leisure suits. I am oh-so-happy I never made a life long commitment to one of them.

Getting a tattoo is your right but Gawd, not the small of the back thing. Every girl seems to need one of those things. It's the mark of a herd follower.

Besides, it's all but impossible to improve on a good backside.

Think long and hard about it before you commit. The chances of you regretting it later are excellent.

I'm amazed that this thread has been out for over a month with nobody else suggesting it, it's so obvious what the perfect artwork would be:


Carots, with the greens shaped like a Bass Clef! :p
