Getting my first bass:D

What, Powertabs? Yeah, it's a great program. I actually downloaded a demo of Guitar Pro 5, since I had to get something from my bandmate who's a bit computer illiterate, and it's alot more complex than Powertabs. But then you have to pay for it, and if you're just using it to learn I dunno if it's worth it.

Edit: Sorry, I opened this up then didn't get around to replying until maybe an hour or two later.

But your thumb won't rest on the string (at least, I wouldn't recommend it). Depending on where you play mostly (I can never decide), you'll either rest it on the pick guard (if your bass has one), the pick ups, or the like on the neck, on the higher frets (although I can't think of anyone who does this).
