Getting no signal with certain combinations

Hi,

I just recently purchased a Dunlop Crybaby Wah and a Boss OC-2 octave pedal from ebay. Got the wah yesterday and the octave today.

The only other pedal I was using was the Russian Big Muff Pi. When I use all three pedals individually (meaning it goes Bass -> Big Muff -> Amp, etc.), they all work fine.

When I do Bass -> Wah -> Octave -> Amp, it works fine.


Bass -> Wah -> Big Muff -> Amp works fine also

Bass -> Octave -> Big Muff -> Amp does NOT work.

Bass -> Wah -> Octave -> Big Muff -> Amp produces a LOUD buzzing noise immediately upon turning on my amp.

The combos that do not work will not even give me a clean signal. I get nothing at all. All the pedals turn on but do not produce a signal from my bass to amp.

What could be the problem? I'm sort of new to the effects world and I was really excited to get these new pedals so this is sort of a bummer.

It's more than likely your power source. Hook the wah to an 18 volt supply and you should be fine.,

Sounds like a finicky cable to me. I've been experiencing similar problems with one of my Monster cables. It needs to be aligned exactly right in the jack it's plugged into or I get no signal and a lot of noise. There's no reason why any exact pedal order would cause you any problems.

I am waiting on my power supply to come in the mail, so I have 9V batteries in my wah and Big Muff, and then the OC-2 plugged into my guitarist's power supply that I'm borrowing.

I've tried multiple cables going into my amp and out to my bass, as well as multiple patch cables connecting the pedals... all the same results

Even if I plug in just my octave and big muff I'm getting no signal though... Octave + Wah works fine.

What is the benefit to using something like an MXR DC Brick vs. a power supply with a daisy chain?

Also, if I use an 18v power supply, will it work to power my other pedals? Or JUST the wah?

DC Brick is a daisy chain. You want a power supply with isolated outputs. Voodoo Labs Pedal Power II+, BBE Supacharger, Trex Fuel Tank Jr. (not the normal Fuel Tank) all have isolated outputs. Isolated outputs generally means that you don't have any wierd interactions with power supplies.
