Getting started on Genesis

Genesis is one of my all-time favorite bands. My favorite era was with Hackett and Gabriel. Next, the early post-Gabriel, but still Hackett, era of "Trick of the Tail" and "Wind and Wuthering". Songs off of these albums like "Dance on a Volcano", "Los Endos", "Blood on the Rooftops", and "...in that Quiet Earth" always make me think that Mike Rutherford is one of the most under-rated bassists. From the fast chops on "Dance..", "Los..." and "...Quiet Earth" to the magnificent walking lines in "Blood...", Mike had an incredible ear for bass. Of course, his earlier work playing a Rickenbacker bass on songs like "Firth of Fifth" (my favorite Genesis song) is also impressive. Fast forward to 1981 and listen to "No Reply At All" on the "Abacab" recording. Okay, it's not prog-rock but, damn(!), listen to Mike pounding out that really cool bassline!

I've checked out almost everything you guys have suggested and I've been into all of it . I think I'm more partial to the Peter Gabriel era stuff i've heard, but i'm sure my taste will expand the more i listen to them.
