yeah, i'm a huge rush, yes, and king crimson fan, but I never really took time to get into genesis for some reason.
That said, everything they did with Peter Gabriel and the first couple with Phil Collins, that's all you need.
In the progressive era they were an "album band", but in their later pop years they were an amazingly effective "singles band". Very few can pull both off in the course of a career.They really are an "album band," I should have said that earlier, I just picked out some of the tracks that got me hooked on my three favorite Genesis albums.
I'd start with Genesis - Live (the one from 1972).
