GHS Balanced Nickel strings

Was just browsing the GHS site, and saw this:

Other than the gauges, how do these differ from Bass Boomers? (Or do they differ? If not, that's okay!)

They differ quite substantially. Most of it's in the copy, but the gist is that they're a pure nickel wrap (as opposed to nickel-plated steel) wound over a round core. The G and E strings are designed in such a way that they're tonally very similar to the D and A, as well as being balanced within 3lbs total swing.

I've been asking for "balanced-tension" Boomers for a while now. In fact, I'm test driving a custom set, 45-60-80-105, right now.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a major step forward. Pure nickel on a round core? Very enticing!

I'll see how quickly I can get someone to put them in the online store. We just announced them to dealers with the pricelist this week. Packaging was JUST ordered as well, so it'll be a minute. But, I'll see what we can do.

This is a set I'll have to try!

They're fun. I've been playing on them since April.

Just uploaded it. Added a set of Precision Flats as well.

And FYI, it's gonna have to be updated in a month or so.

Did I? I used to have some issues (fingers would turn black), but I haven't had any of those for quite some time. I'm attributing my reaction more a result of skin pH levels, since it's gone now. Even with phosphor bronze strings too, my hands don't go black at all.

Smoother, with a slightly heftier punch. There's little to no "new string zing" to them, but to that end, they keep that sound for a while. My two buddies that have been prototyping them on the road have told me the sound really doesn't change all that much.

I wanted the silk teal, so that was what the prototypes were silked as. The ONLY complaint was that, so the silk is GREEN.

That's how I'm trying to redesign everything, which you'll notice from the updated Precision Flats packaging on the site as well.

Absolutely no idea.

Ours is slightly between a Kelly Green and Hunter Green.
