GHS Balanced Nickel strings

^^^Agreed^^^ I'm keeping my second set of Balanced Nickels for my Fender American Professional Precision. Round Core Bass Boomers are perfect on my Fender American Standard Jazz, so I am just going to stay with them.
@Linnin : Can you speak a little about this decision? I've never tried the round core Boomers, but have a set of Balanced Nickels on the way. I was interested in trying them on my Jazz bass, so I'm curious about your impressions. Thanks!

Review: GHS Round Core Bass Boomers
I really think it is the glassy & airy top end + the overall harmonic richness that compliments a Fender Jazz so well. My 2012 Fender American Standard Jazz was the first (other than the AVRI '62 Jazz) to come stock with the Custom Shop '62 pickup set. It's just a good match. Especially so if subtle nuances are part of your repertoire. As I stated somewhere in that thread, some may find them too polite.

You're going to like them and they will sound just fine on your Jazz so long as you're not going for Chris Squire or Geddy Lee tone.
This Jazz of mine has lots of “zing”, so im searching for a roundwound string with deep lows, plenty of low mid growl, and less brilliance than DR Sunbeams in order to find a nice tonal balance. I guess I’ll find out soon if the BNs do the trick! Thanks for your input.

Thank you! The only reason I haven't slapped them on the P is that I'm 1000% in love with my 760FL's on there, I know you used to be a fan of those too. Frankly, I've never found a round I like on this P.

I know what you're saying about the P with 760FL. There are times when I miss that combo...though not too often any more. ;)

The BNs have unique qualities that would match either P or J equally well. The only reason why I haven't put them on my J is it's reserved for my trusted PWs when I'm done with the Round Core Boomers that are on it right now.

Understood. Right now, the P w/clean FL's is the only bass I play, it is mega-versatile in my world.

I can't seem to get enough low-end out of my J's anymore. You think the BN's would help? I don't like the Pressurewounds...

I'm not sure how the BNs would sound on your J.

That said, now that I've tried both the PWs and the BNs on my P, one thing I can tell you is the BNs seem to have a warmer and fuller low end with creamy smooth mids, while the PWs are all about tight, punchy lows with some crunch in the mids.

Just received my set of 4L-NB from BSO today...trying to decide if they should go on the P or the J.

Thoughts?
I have the Balanced Nickels on my Jazz and really like them. I used Sunbeams for countless years and still dig them, but I hear more depth in the lowest frequencies and less “clank” in the mids & highs with the BN. They are clear, deep, and smooth.

A P Bass with Novak vintage PU and TI Flats is my main ride.. these BNs on my Jazz give me a good alternative for when I need that “Jazz Bass thing”. There hasn’t been a lot of conversation regarding these strings on a JB, but honestly they’re the best rounds I’ve tried on this bass.

How can I not try the BNs on my J after reading this?!
I do have fond memories of the Sunbeams (45-105) from when I tried them on my J a few years ago. The only thing I didn't like about them was the lack of firmness for my right hand. I've been pleasantly surprised how firm (not stiff) the BNs feel despite the round core and smaller gauges (40-101).
