Ok so it's my fault Ive made this mistake before. Searched high and low for some short scale flatwound and ordered these for my SWB1 . Advertising says 32. 75 winding length turn up 32.5. Not funny at €42 a go.

I'm guessing you measured from the inside of the ball; we measure from the OUTSIDE.

Are you stringing these thru-body or top-load? The SWB-1 can do both, if I recall.

I was going to top load them with them being flats. As you can see from the top picture they are well short of the nut. I have some rounds on at the moment that go through the body so I was able to check the length without taking the old strings off.

Then something's really amiss. Scott Whitley used an SWB-1 to help me get the current winding length, so you shouldn't have an issue. Unless something changed when Chowny took over production, or you got a very old set of those (prior to the length change). What does the outer package look like?

If you haven't strung them up or done anything with them, I'd take them back to the store (if possible) and see about getting a set of the medium scale Precision Flats.

The packaging looks fine. I did search for a long time for a medium set but had no luck at all in finding any here in Greece. I went with these because like you say they were made in conjunction with Scott. They came from Athens as I live the other side of Greece , 5 hours away. I think I have to put this down to experience. Thanks anyway.

I wanted to just confirm that you got the new packaging (with the purple outer label) and not the older black package.

You can always do what Jack Casady did when the Pyramid flats were too short for his Guild bass: trim the silks. From the picture, it doesn't appear that the taper starts until after the the string would go over the nut anyway. (Pyramid later fixed them by making the speaking length a little longer, just like Jon did after talking to Scott.)
