I love this guy, his chops are off the hook - here's the problem tho:

Gianni serino plays a simple Yamaha TRB that he made modify according to his aesthetic and technical requirements. Here (Invalid Link Removed) you can check the entire process of "restiling" of his bass, made by some of the best luthiers here in Italy.

Gianni has incredible technique, I have never seen any bassist do that kind of stuff.....
It's still hard to use it in a musical context, but.. I think he may get there. Maybe he should trim it down a bit during most of the parts of his songs (check out all his youtube vids) and then add a solo or a melodic part here or there. I just think he has a lot of notes going on in his head which translates to his songwriting. It's amazing enough he can play his ideas... Maybe he needs a bit more Abe Laboriel "thinking", high on groove during the major parts of the song and then rip it during a solo.
