Gibson Acquires Mesa/Boogie

please not Gallien-Krueger next, please not Gallien-Krueger, please not Gallien-Krueger......
Don’t worry, it’s not happening.
At least not on the table and let’s just say offers were thrown out years ago.

I really don't get all the Gibson hate in TB... they've gone through good and bad times and made their share of mistakes especially under a certain CEO, but really not understanding how they have acquired so many haters in here while similar history in Fender gets glossed over.

I've always thought of Gibson as an aspirational and seminal brand and they created some of the best guitar designs in history, which many other guitars are based on (just what is out there that isn't a derivative of a Gibson, Fender or Rickenbacker design?).

Under the new leadership I would expect Mesa to stay whole and healthy, just hoping they don't do the Gibson Goldtone thing like they did to the Trace Elliot Velocette.

My only worry is that Gibson is more of a 6-string company (even though the T-Bird in particular is an iconic bass) but with the Mesa bass products being so good you'd hope they would keep them coming.

Let’s wait and see. Gibson’s track record is well known but this is a new company under new leadership and selling well made and popular gear is what they need to do to survive. If Gibson didn’t pick them up then someone else would have.
Good for Mesa. Randall Smith deserves a long and wealthy retirement.

All of the fears about what will happen to Mesa Boogie in the hands of Gibson that mention what happened to Trace-Elliot, Tobias, Steinberger and the other brands that Gibson bought in the past are way off base. The people who ran Gibson from 1986 through 2019 - when all of that bad stuff happened - ran Gibson into the ground and were forced out in 2019. The new folks Gibson, at least so far, seem to actually care about making top quality stuff. AFAIK, Mesa-Boogie is the first company bought by the new folks. Bashing the new management for the bad stuff the old owner did is like ripping the folks who own Fender today for what CBS did to Fender in the 60’s.

Look, if the new Gibson people screw up Mesa Boogie I’ll be right there to rip them. But it’s just not fair to blame the new Gibson for stuff the old owner did. In fact, the new guys actually fired the old owner.

....sigh... all of those bad things were done by the old management. They don’t run Gibson anymore and haven’t since 2018. It’s totally unfair to try to predict How the new management at Gibson will handle Mesa Boogie by mentioning things the old owners did. It should make you feel better to know that the new owners of Gibson fired the old management when they took over.

Unfortunately it seems that Gibson-hating is a TB prerequisite, much like liking tort or not playing above the 5th fret :)
