Gibson, at least they're trying…Les Paul Junior Tribute Bass

I had hopes for another run of shortscale thunderbirds, but thats not likely with the new gene simmonds models coming out. Perhaps epiphone will release a short Tbird. I would be all over that!
Yeah. Amazing bass. They only did a run of 400. I am extremely lucky to have one. Pro Custom refinished top by previous owner to repair a deep scratch.

The only thing I'd add is a rounding where my right arm hits. The relatively sharp corner there gets uncomfortable sometimes...generally after an hour or so playing with a pick. Perhaps I can get someone to do that aftermarket.?. Preserving the blue stain tint might be a challenge, but I'm certainly no finish expert. If it were not for that, it would be my first go-to always bass. As it is, I usually pick up my Music Man Short-scale Stingray first now, as it's more comfortable. In most cases, I prefer the fuller sound of this Gibson LP Jr. however. The pick-up is really amazing.

John Kallas put body contours on his (or maybe for somebody else - not sure). Looks awesome. He went ahead and refinished it in a gloss if I recall correctly. I don't have time to look for his post right now, but it might be in this thread.

I'd LOVE to look him up if you can find him!
I don't care about gloss much. I have an SG bass in the flat red, and like it that way too. Doesn't show bumps and bruises much either. My Jr. in flat blue stain looks really nice to me.

I'm a happy owner of one now. Band practice tonight. I realize I will tend more toward short scale and I've always liked Gibson basses.

I've had 2 SG basses I liked (silly that I sold them). And this I feel is a bit better. Great tone (for me) from the stock pick up. Suprised how much you can vary the tone by simple hand placement.

The neck on this is perfect as well (for me....). A bit on the rounded chunky side.

Me Likey.

Has anybody tried replacing the pickup with anything other than a Tbird one yet? I’ve been thinking about swapping mine out for a P pup just for poops and chuckles (if I can figure out how to fit one under the pickup cover)
i love the stock pickup so i personally wouldn't think of doing that.
