An here I thought I had the only SG Standard with a white pickguard, lol

No, I hate to tell you this but your bass served as the inspiration for my retirement bass present to my self.
Thank you, and sorry about that.

(I’m pretty sure that was your bass that I had seen on here)

I sold my Gibson Less Paul Jr before I sold my house and moved to make room in my new office.
I seen one on sale yesterday and bought that sucker as fast I could!
I got it for a few hundred bucks and it was in mint condition with the plastic still on the pickguard. I just had to file down a few fret ends and oil the fretboard.

Mistake corrected.

Love the brown one!
Worn cherry is classic for sure, but the brown one looks so... harmoniously.

Thanks, I actually had a worn brown that I sold too. I couldn’t believe that I found a mint one for cheap in the same color.

I played the hell out of this bass last night. The SG is so much better of a bass, but man the Less Paul Jr is just an amazing sounding fun little bass. I cannot recommend them enough.

Now if Gibson would only start making them again!

Anyone heard of any new 2024 Gibson model basses?

Okay, last picture spam.
I got the chrome pickup cover in today and this thing is looking great.

That makes sense. We do know that it wasn't Chris's bass, according to Chris, so I wonder who it did belong to? The smoking gun would be for it to either show up today (even just the neck), or for a photo to appear with the real owner... trusting that Hillman's memory isn't faulty. He was in the Byrds and presumably smoked the good stuff on occasion. He claims he borrowed it, but I've seen him playing a few different basses in mimed performances from back then. Maybe he owned it for a couple of weeks? Who knows!

I do wonder why somebody would stick a Gibson headstock on a Fender neck like that. What would motivate a thing like that? Somebody transitioning from Guild/Hofner/Gibson to Fender, and really wanting a 2X2 headstock? Or a broken headstock?

Those two make a lovely pair. I keep Gibson rounds on the Jr , and light LaBella flats on the SG. I spend a lot of my time with those two.

We're fine, thanks for inquiring!

Yes, the bass sound matches the vibe of the music.
I’m praying that Vates (Serge) will reply to this , but his band Shamrock in Kyiev just reported he has passed away.

Serge was one of my first friends on Talkbass and a great part of this forum. He was an inspiration and so full of kindness and knowledge.

Prayers for his family and Peace in Ukraine.
